22/50 with Siem Reap and Da Nang flights booked.
Preferring to bypass the big cities these days, not sure whether will get too many further from this list.

Half way there.....

I do find it funny that the same online site had something the other week about the most overrated cities in the world ... and a few in the top 50 mad it on that list!!

The 25 Most Overrated Places On Earth

Agree with most ... so may other places that should be in top 50... however what is a great place for one is not for another

27/50 but another list with no real substance behind it

I'm at 14. But I suspect mrs GPH is about 10 ahead of me. Agree though, some better options for the top 50

Have been to 10 and hopefully more to come but as others have noted it is a very subjective list.

You could probably come up with a safe list of 50 cities and then you would be howled down as not being sophisticated or worldly enough to think of some of the gems that people don't visit, the quirky/edgy ones, so in compiling these sorts of things you probably have to pick a lot of the ones that everyone would agree on and a few left field ones, else what's the point of telling people what they already know without a few things that make you stop and think even if people then disagree...

Having people discuss the article is probably better than no one bother because its so ho hum/dull???

Only 4 from that list here... need to travel more.

Would've like to have seen places like Boston, Chicago, Cape Town, Santiago, Taipei, Melbourne, Hong Kong. And no Canadian cities... really???

Certainly sounds like more travel is needed... :)

Who knows the pics were all from Instagram or something weren't they, so maybe the author has never even traveled to half these cities, just needed something to post, rehash another list from somewhere and see what pics he can find to stick in there...

19, but wouldn't really call Bagan a city. Siem Reap is not really a city, either. Both great places to visit though...

Struggle a bit with these lists. They seem to be the trend now; 10 best cars, 15 best football moments etc, all burley to the internet user dragging them into pointless websites. We should make better lists; 50 best drinking spots to get thrown out of, 10 places to go to before Lonely Planet reports on it, 10 airlines to avoid. Will make better reading than going to Las Vegas!

27/50 for me but I also struggle with this list

Go on then. 50 best drinking spots to get thrown out of sounds like a fun list :)

OK, here is a few to start off, no particular order, style, quality, etc,

McSorley's - New York (old, but good beer)
Apocalpyse Now - Siagon (fantastic years ago, chanced a bit since they moved the DJ)
Dom Keller - Aachen (great beer in an old 16th cent pub with the band playing)
Cafe Belgique - Amsterdam (constant change but great beer)
Cafe OZ - Denfert Rochereau (I know its an Aussie bar, but it isnt when its rocking)
Kumang Pub - Kuching (hideaway place)
Le Borak Cafe - Paris (great little bar, and the bar is cast whitemetal!)
Queens Arm - Maida Vale (great to watch footy in)
Old China Hand - Wanchai (like me, old)
Morning Night - BKK (pool tables and other things!!!!)
Ipanema Bar - SIN (as above)
Brannigans - New Jersey (Great dive)
Monks Pub - Chicago (a bit better than the above)
Royal Hotel - Wallerawang (have to list where this bad habit started from!!!)

Another 36 to go, but its a start!!!!

33/50 for me.
However, no point asking a frequent flyer what countries they've been to because the convo goes as follows "yeah, yeah I've been to all those places. Paris? Oh yeah nice place? I got a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower in the taxi from the airport, photos? Nah was too busy catching up on emails on my phone. The people? Yeah I met a few French guys in the office, Food? Well yeah, my hamburger from room service was fine. Airport lounge was shoddy, got double points on the hotel, yeah that's Paris!"
