I know there's a cautious approach that can be taken..... but Air France has taken it a bit too far I think!

I've already dismissed one of the notices, but thought it might be good for a laugh to show just how many different things they're warning you about, without actually tailoring it to the booking/passenger. Some of them are factually incorrect too, like the first one.

Important information about your trip
Whilst the national restrictions are in place, you can only travel internationally from the United Kingdom for legally permitted reasons. You must have a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 72 hours before departure. And you'll need to complete a travel declaration form and carry it with you along with any evidence supporting the reason for your trip. If you do not meet these measures, it's considered a criminal offence, resulting in fines. Please check the website of the UK government for detailed information.

It is now mandatory to wear a surgical mask upon your arrival at the airport and throughout your flight. Please bring your own mask, otherwise you may be denied boarding. Learn more about our health measures and those of our partner airlines.

Children and youth under 16 years of age traveling from the United Kingdom are exempt from paying the British Airport Tax (Air Passenger Duty). This exemption is automatic for children under 12 years of age. For youth between 12 and 15 years of age, you will need to request a refund of the tax by completing our online form.

Before any travel, please contact the relevant national authorities to check the health requirements for entry and stay in your destination and transit countries. You will not be able to enter certain countries without a travel certificate, quarantine on arrival, a recent negative COVID-19 test or other medical documents. Learn more about the required documents.

Tickets for flights scheduled on or before 31 December 2021 are refundable in the form of a refundable voucher if you cancel your booking before departure of the first flight. Learn more. For all other tickets, regular conditions apply.

Not that different to the dozens of times you hear not to travel if you have Covid symptoms when daring to ride the bubble between NZ and AU.

What I always find funny- you can bet that the type of people who’d really ignore all safety rules, are the ones who won’t listen even the dozenth time, no matter what.

While rest of us has to listen again and again and again…

I'd say Qantas is the same, manage my booking shows so many unnecessary messages:Screen Shot 2021-05-30 at 4.05.26 pm.png

Which reminds me.... I need to start filling in the various paperwork for each country I'll be passing through. So time consuming! Worth it to escape these shores though ;)

Unsurprisingly it's becoming a bit of a palaver. I've already had to change my pre-departure PCR test due to a lack of clarity around '3 days' vs '72 hours', but France now appears to (as of today) have changed the requirements for travellers originating in the UK and it's been shortened to 48 hours. Fortunately ExpressTest have been really good and even with an e-mail to them on the weekend I had a new appointment slot booked in within 15 minutes of requesting it.

France's official website has reference to 48 hours, only 72 hours and the site that Air France directs you to also still refers to 72 hours. So, of course you err on the side of caution and go for 48. However, it has no reference to transit pax (which is what I will be) and whether the same requirements even apply.

It justifies why from a personal perspective, I've not booked any trips for this year because it's just too hard and constantly evolving. Keeping in mind, that's coming from someone who is pretty well on top of these kind of things..... you can see why other people are trying and failing so often, such as the recent case of people who tried to fly FR to DUB and misunderstood the rules.
