Tonight on Masterchef the challenge will take place onboard the Qantas A380 filmed in hanger 96

Both teams are creating menus and preparing them onboard the aircraft

Surely catering for 4 judges should be easy right??... Maybe not!

Coup for QF PR... They are pumping the A380 everywhere ATM... As they should be I guess it's a superb flagship and flying experience

I wonder if the judges will be sat in F, or J or PE or simply Y? Or maybe all 4 to show off the different aspects of the plane, and maybe the bars too ;)

It appears to be a link through Neil Perry.

They seem to be sitting in the hanger on the promo's.

Last night's promo showed the judges seated at a table in the hanger and not onboard the aircraft.

I am sure DJ will not be happy, they have been advertising on the show all season.

The ratings for tonight's Masterchef should prove interesting.
A special ep of Masterchef is going up against critical match in this year's State Of Origin rugby league.

I believe QF is some sort of sponsor for the show. When the contestants flew to Melbourne recently they showed the QF boarding passes, the QF terminals and QF aircraft.

That is interesting as DJ have been advertising as if they sponsored the show, but on closer inspection, QF is definitely a partner of Masterchef.

There was a simliar challenge (I guess, I haven't watched Master Chef) in one of the seasons of Top Chef in the US. The contestants had to create a menu for service in flight on an aeroplane, with lots of comments from judges on reheating, spice levels, etc. I believe it was all filmed in a hangar, but not with anything as nice as the A380.
I can't remember exactly, but one contestant used broccolini that really didn't hold up to the reheating on board. Ended up a disgusting mess, and judge Tony Bourdain wasn't too complimentary on the choice.

Love the Foxtel iPhone app! Saw this thread, logged in and set the IQ2 to record! :)

A very clever piece of advertising by Virgin Blue. They don't need to be a sponsor in order to purchase advertising time and given its currently one of the biggest rating shows (ok, may not lead the ratings against State of Origin tonight) it must be an attractive investment for Virgin Blue for their advertising budget.

Just like the QF ad that was played multiple times on live2air on monday night:rolleyes:, given that nobody had touched their screens at that time it was seen by all

Broccoli has been used for airline meals before (in both premium and Economy classes). It can turn out to be a mess, but on the other hand it can be done so there is no problem.

What some people might comment about w.r.t. airline food, particularly with foods like broccoli and spicy foods, is...well (let's not hold back any punches here)...flatulence risk.

Very clever indeed. I am surprised that Masterchef would allow such advertising though with the with obvious Masterchef reference as the backdrop, especially considering QF is a partner of the show.

Good on them!

DJ is also a partner in terms of the show for advertising, they just did not provide product for it AFAIK:

Virgin Blue Fare Finder - MasterChef Australia

Given they go to the UK soon, I would imagine QF would have been the preferred supplier!

I'll take your word for it. DJ's website is a brothel on my iPod!

Fair enough.

It is odd to have two competing companies sponsor/partner the same product:oops:

The J menu they are doing certainly seems better than any J menu i have had on QF J in the last few years.
