TomCat's new digs!

TV has given the builder opposite till Friday to remove the dumped concrete, otherwise we report to EPA and the police. The fine is over $1
million so a pretty good incentive, and I have plenty of photos to show exactly where it came from.

Chasing up about our start date given the public holiday tomorrow; will be given an update this afternoon.

They're not as emotionally connected to your building application - but their ability to communicate is also being shown to be wanting. Never over-promise and under-deliver, better to do the reverse ;)

It would not be unusual for a builders display home to cost at least 30% more than the costing they plan to have on building your home. As long as you don’t get too wound up about their failures that may be just aesthetics you can keep your perspective. Just make sure they get the structural parts correct. We used an advisor when we built our first home and that worked out well. Unfortunately our builder went belly up a couple of years after our place was finished so no longer term maintenance was possible from them.

Hopefully.

Neighbour took this drone shot of our street yesterday. You can see our lovely pile of concrete on the left, and the tyre tracks from the house opposite (now with frames up) Looks like theyve also been dumping concrete on their southern neighbours block....

That’s a fantastic keepsake to have. Bummer about the cement. If it’s any consolation, your site will look like a bomb site soon too. Then it gets cleaned up a bit. Then it goes to the next group of tradies and it gets rubbishy again. You want to clean up, and might do that then two weeks later it’s back to rubbish.

So the bit in red is your site?

Yep thats ours, with the stained fence and the dying grass/weeds.

Yes it will look worse before it looks better. Just need that concrete gone as our builder will charge us if they have to clean it up.

Nice construction road behind our fence too....that whole farm is a new estate (you can see the earth works at the top of the pic).

Despite the lack of rain it looks rather green. Last week flying over it was all dry. Maybe you get some nice rain in your area. Damn annoying builder who dumped the concrete.

Of course. The stained fence is the giveaway. :D And the concrete of course :(

We used to call it builders droppings :). Electricians are particularly bad, with little bits of wire dropped everywhere . And we once noticed a sandwich left in the wall cavity - we cleaned that up before the plasterboard went on. You certainly need a lot of patience and sense of humour when building. I am expecting a lot of tears from Ms FM when her house gets started...

The owner of the house that is making the mess is also pushing them to clean up. Will see what happens.

I'm currently hassling our builder for a start date, they havent responded yet despite several emails. Though I notice theres a new site supervisor listed in our portal so hopefully thats a good sign. They have a week left to start.

Looks like "just in time" management abounds at your builders. Keep the pressure up and good to see the neighbours are on your side as well (in trying to get their builder to clean up he concrete droppings) . Last thing you want to sour the relationship before you've even built. You can be as sour as you like with their builder.

Yesterday update was a massive non-update:
The ordering department have not been able to provide a completion date for ordering as yet.

Pushing higher up the chain today to see what happens.

I don’t even have the words to describe the ineptitude of our builder right now.
