TomCat's new digs!

We have ivy and I would not recommend it to anyone. Our front boundary fence is covered in ivy so it stops graffiti. We have 36 rose bushes out in front of the ivy to improve the colours. With the ivy we have a contractor come with a chain saw style cutter to trim it and he has to wear goggles, gloves and protective wear. Our ivy has been there for about 45 years so it had an almost 20 year head start on us.
Finally rats and wasps can nest in ivy so you have to be vigilant.....so there I think ivy would be a NO.
Glyphosate ,rat traps and wasp spray can all be avoided.....

Our last page had Ivy and it was a nightmare, plus it makes my skin itch .

Stained the fences at the old house and hadn't touched them again, four years on they still looked good as new .

That colour tap is the international and Australian colour code for a reclaimed water supply. It is a water supply that has been retreated typically for garden use.Suggest you don’t drink that water and do not cross connect it with your potable water supply.
The brass tap nearby is your drinking water supply and comes with a small safety valve to prevent back suction (if you study the brass tap picture it is on the end). Never remove that safety valve.

That's the first time I've seen a purple tap. I like it.
And all the hoses leading to it should be purple as well. We have a community island in Adelaide that is all reclaimed water. When we were in the midst of the drought, they could water as much as they wanted.

Lots of places use reclaimed water for their parks and gardens. It is a big help to prevent a city running short of a drinking water supply. Building a new dam is hard to get approved and desalination is usually the most expensive source as a new water supply.

Purple is our recycled water, for the garden and the toilets. Compulsory throughout the estate.

Mawson Lakes in Adelaide was one of the early movers where a whole subdivision had a reclaimed water supply. That must have been way more than twenty years ago.
It is good thinking to only use the best quality water for drinking and showering.
Having a city run out like what is happening in Cape Town is not something we would want to happen in Australia.

Yes. That’s the Island area I was speaking of earlier. That estate stayed wonderfully green in the early 2000’s while the rest of Adelaide shriveled and died. We looked at purchasing property there but it reminded us of a weird kind of Hollywood film set. That movie? Can’t remember it right now but it all seemed a bit fake back then.

It’s awful to think of the wonderful water we flush down the toilet. In the grip of the drought and attending the footy I would hear all the public toilets flush multiple times a second and just think what a waste they didn’t use recycled.

Finished off the fence today, and started on the second coat. Its looking good!

Pups enjoyed another visit.

And we ran into one of our new neighbours as we were about to leave which was nice. They seem lovely. And 10 minutes after we left we got a message asking us if we would like them to run their ride on mower across our block. Definitely an offer we couldnt refuse. Just needs another weed spray before the build starts.
