Good afternoon!,

first of all i hope I'm posting this in the right spot, i always seem to post in the wrong category!.

I have a question about "checked" baggage. I'm flying next sunday to LA: Syd to Bris (QF504) and then QF15 to LA from there. I have never flown overseas before and was starting to pack today as I'm working all week and want it out of the way.

My question: i have a shaving gel can which is 195g *unopen*, and also a hugo boss unused cologne which is exactly 100ml as per the bottle. Now, i know there are strict restrictions from what i have read about carry on bags and what toiletries and stuff you can bring (the sealable bag and 100ml limits on things etc) but i cant seem to find any information on whether these two items can be checked baggage.

I called Qantas to ask one of the staff members, and she put me hold to find the answer. When she came back she couldn't really give me a yes or no answer. She only reflected on what she would do, and she said that USA customs are very tight and they might get cross if i bring this in, and if it was her, she would just buy new stuff over there. Then she went on about if i had brought it duty free then that might be ok? and then i thought - well my bag would be checked already if i were in duty free and then the carry on limit applies?

Im so confused, sorry! I would appreciate if someone can explain this to me. Also, i visited the travel-secure website and it has a .pdf brochure on carry on sealable bag but not checked baggage. !

Also, if this is allowed to be checked, do i put it in a sealable bag or container?

:) Thanks!
