Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Another 3 or 4 more years of WP for me and I'll be 1/3 of the way to LTP! 🤪
To me, if they changed LTP from 75000 to 50000SC, it'll still be a hard target to reach for most but doesn't seem quite so impossible and might sway a fair chunk of flyers to aim for that.
I've been LTG since 2013 and continuous WP since then and here's my stats

So yep, cutting to 50,000SC would be motivating for me - I'd likely make that by 77 years old so may still have a few years to benefit from the status!

I wonder if QF should consider "stretch goals" to promote loyalty to QFF after LTG is reached.

For example, at 21,000 SC, 28,000 SC, 35,000 SC etc you get a permanent bonus (e.g. extra baggage allowance on all QF operated itineraries, extra guest allowance above the usual limit, 2x Domestic Business Lounge passes per year, 2x First Lounge passes per year when flying QF etc.). Low cost to QF and not quite LTP/OWE, but some benefits like those they offer for the Titanium card when flying QF.
Totally agree. I feel like they have not really respected my continuing loyalty since 14,000 SC 12 years ago, and the type of rewards you mention would all be attractive to me (except the extra luggage) and would make me feel noticed and not just taken for granted.

And yes I know I can try other airlines, but honestly as a WP it's hard to walk away and start as nothing somewhere else.

Yeah, I got to LTG about 9 years ago...and have limped to a total of 21K lifetime SCs despite being Plat continuously since....it is cheaper (and easier) just to book flights incl status runs during dble SC promos to maintain Plat each year than to chase LT Plat!

Finally made it after DSC posted on 1 April and it's no April QFool's joke! Wonder if one of the crew had foreseen that when she slipped me a champagne from Business class on my qualifying flight 2 nights ago?
Oddly I have a transaction in my activity statement today showing Expired Status Credits of zero even though my membership year doesn't end in April. Wonder if it's related to attaining LTG in April itself? Same with you @QF WP?

I'm getting closer after a bigger than normal year of travel, and it is actually achievable now. Regained WP after a break of about ten years and am appreciating the extra perks.

Throw in several DSCs and you might arrive well before I did

After Ansett collapsed I joined Qantas in February 2002

I reached LTG in September 2024

This with a fair serving of Govt funded work trips and family trips in 2002 and 2008 and nothing much else until I joined AFF

FROM THERE judicious use of JASA back in the day and after they disappeared DSCs plus learning how to NEGATIVE GEAR my work professional allowance to take business related conference travel within what I could afford given earnings less taxes, child support, rent / utilities / home loans and super contributions

It still took over 2 decades

My best choice was some DSCs in March 2019 that carried WP all the way through the non-travelling COVID period (with the single booking of a $109 adel-Melb ticket which I never used cause my friend got Covid when I was about to jump on the plane!) Tided me all the way through

Happy now I can take rewards tics including JQ and not needing to worry about accumulating any more status credits

(using the motto

Fly More, Pay Less) so 8,000 rewards Adel-Melb or 12,000 Adel-Bris

and still head to the Qantas Club before the flight

Yep! It’s amazing that anyone can earn that many SCs! Must have done a few F flights during DSC periods!
If I did that much flying I would look like those two Boeing astronauts that got stuck on the international space station for months!
