Hi,

Just cancelled an standard award flight as my saver waitlisted became available.
However, I realised that my miles has not been refunded. Does anyone know how long it generally takes to refund the miles?

I cancelled an award ticket earlier in the year and I am fairly sure it only took a couple of days at most for the miles to be refunded.

Thanks LadyC.
Its just the lady on the phone was very clear. She told me it can take up to 3 weeks for the credit card to be refunded, but when I ask about the duration for the points she also mentioned 3 weeks. So, not sure if thats correct as I'm using with banks it will take a longer duration as you are waiting for another institution to act whereas redeposit of funds is controlled fully by SQ.

Right now I have a full standard ticket confirmed, but if my waitlist comes through I have no points left to switch to the waitlist flights :(

About 2 weeks in my case.

Certainly not 'couple of days'.

Had 2-3 cancellations in the last 6-8 mo and they were all the same.

I recall that the miles and the credit card $ were refunded about the same date. So as far as I can see, it is a delay internally of SQ procedures more than bank processing time. The refunds seem to be referred back to the office of the airport of departure for some reason.

I also notice that the refunds often come from different country to where the original charge was processed. I guess this is part of the SQ currency management.

My experience is quite different, though it has been nearly a year since my last cancellation.
The miles were redeposited instantly. The cash component took about a week.

Yep, they changed the system during the year. Around the time they changed the way to do the cancellations. Used to be able to cancel online, which was lost at the same time as the extended refund procedure.

An update

Cancelled an award F seat on 30th Dec

Miles & CC refund are in account on Jan 3rd

Pretty fast turn around

Memory can play tricks on you sometimes. Thought it was longer.

Just to keep people posted with my own experience.
Award flight was cancelled 4 weeks ago and points has still not been refunded.
Called Krisflyer to ask and they advise me that it is in the system but it has not been processed yet.
Operator tells me that it generally takes 3-6 weeks.
I complained that the previous staff member told me it only took 3 weeks when I cancelled my flights.
Operator apologises and says that he can do it immediately.
Logged onto SQ website 5 minutes later and all the points were back in!!!

Why on earth did they not do this earlier and need to send it away to some backroom office somewhere to get it processed!!
