Although Tiger will be able to resume some services straight away if the ban is lifted on Monday, it is understood the low-cost carrier wants to delay the resumption of flights until August 6 so it has enough time to sell tickets and organise crews and ground staff.

Let the low fares wars resume!

Whilst it's unlikely that I'd ever fly with them, it's good that they are coming back... Hopefully some of the issues which the company has will have been sorted out by this little break...

I would honestly be surprised if the extremely low fares of the past come back. I think they have learned, that complience costs money. There is a market for low cost carriers, however the rediculous prices that they charged previously in my opinion are history.
I would also be surprised if their hardline approach to passengers isnt a bit lighter, as they struggle to gain back their passenger base.
I have read several comments re the type of pax that fly tiger, well some friends of ours, very nice evryday people, who do it fairly tough had their first holiday in 10 years booked with Tiger. Needless to say they now have to wait until next year. Lucky they listened to me and got travel insurance. They are actually going to use Tiger for their Holiday, as they think that they will be under the eye of CASA. Also, they want to help out by not abandoning them.
They wont get my business, because 90% of my travel is business related, and I am happy to pay a premium for better reliability, and the option of different flight times.
I think Tiger understand their niche and they will work on getting it right this time. Good luck to them I say.

Remember that this is all 'IF' they get the tick in the box from the CASA and the Federal Court on Monday.

Thats true. Correct me if I am wrong though, as I only know as much as I have read in the paper/online , but wasn't the grounding until the 1/8 and if they wanted to extend further they (Casa) had to apply to the court. Or was that just for the initial 7 day immediate grounding, to allow for time to bring before the court.

Regardless, it seems CASA appears to be going to allow the resumption, but I guess you never can tell.

ABC News 24 just reported that Tiger may not get back into the air due to "additional conditions" being imposed on them.
I'm not a supporter of Tiger, but I think I could be convinced that there are other things in play (read conspiracy theory) that are going against Tiger at present.

All depends on what the conditions are.. I wouldn't call it a conspiracy just yet.. But i hope they have addressed those issues and get back in the air. There is a place for them in the air and on TV!

The release from CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority - Tiger Airways suspension update)

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has given Tiger Airways Australia a set of conditions which can form the basis for the airline resuming operations.

A number of these conditions must be satisfied before any flights can be undertaken.

Others require Tiger Airways to take ongoing actions, to CASA's satisfaction, as the airline builds back up to a normal schedule.

The conditions do not allow for a resumption of operations until CASA is satisfied Tiger is able to do so safely.

If Tiger accepts these conditions, there will be no need for CASA to pursue its application in the Federal Court for an order continuing the suspension of the airline's operating certificate.

In the meantime, Tiger remains suspended and the matter is listed to be heard by the Federal Court on 1 August 2011.

CASA suspended the operations of Tiger Airways Australia on 1 July 2011 due to serious and imminent risk to air safety.

With 45% of their customers very satisfied or fairly satisfied in the 12 month survey to 31st May one would wonder which way that percentage will go if they are allowed to get to fly customers again.
