Are we there yet?
So I am back at the Taphouse. Getting to be a regular now.
Order another schooner of new, Amex gets to see the light, find a seat, take out the laptop and start to think what am I doing here.
So I have one eye on the departure board, one eye on my laptop and another eye on the gorgeous bird sitting next to me. I think it was the other way around though as her and her and friend were already sitting there and I sat next to them.
Can't keep my eye off the departure board. Did I really expect Tiger to keep it up to date? It was not up to date earlier but I guess they are having more than their fair share of problems right now. Kept getting up and going out into terminal to look down to gate 33 but couldn't tell what was happening. Did this 4-5 times as I was paranoid of missing flight.
I did not want to push this new friendship with Tiger too much so after about 15 minutes trying to relax I finished my beer, packed up my laptop and headed down to gate 33. The ladies next to me had left anyway.
Did not wait too long and they were ready to board again. It appears I have been given a reprieve.
As previously there are people everywhere when boarding is about to start. But this still feels civilised to me. I have seen worse.
Boarding is extremely efficient again and it is getting close to 3:50pm or 2 hours after original scheduled departure where we start to push back. Flight time was around 1h 10m which means I still get to BNE with plenty of time for the T-Bus to the DFO.
Deja vu? At some point after boarding and waiting to taxi I fell asleep again. Obviously still tired from the late night the night before and that last beer would have worked wonders. And again apologies to anyone for any snoring while I was asleep.
I managed to wake up just as the cabin crew were about to start the food and beverage service and you do not need to twist my arm for a beer. The CSM (is this the right term on Tiger?) was a very pleasant lady, smile on her face and very professional. I ordered a Tiger beer and a cup with some ice. I really do love icy cold beer.
Rather uneventful flight and the captain did announce that we were due to arrive in BNE ~5:15pm. Perfect.
Deboarding was again efficient and I thanked the crew for their wonderful job as I was getting off the aircraft.
Walking through the terminal I did notice that this flight was turning around to SYD but the next arrival from SYD and then the last departure to SYD were both cancelled. I am guessing the crew would be out of hours by the time they could finish the last leg. I really did feel sorry for the people on the last departure of the night from both SYD and BNE and think myself extremely lucky that I chose the earlier flight.
I managed to get to my apartment ~7:15pm as the bus, bus, train connection did not quite gel.
I was very tired and managed to get through this experience relatively unscathed.
I will follow with a summary but let me just say that the crew were very professional at all times throughout this ordeal and they handled this situation very well. Not sure what would happen to the people who's flight was cancelled but cannot really blame the crew for that one.
