Fair point. How about "not as much of a boot up the backside as the jetstreams normally provide"? Certainly the flight time can vary considerably depending on the strength (or otherwise) of the jetstreamss on the day.
Absolutely. :D

Indeed it is not uncommon for a SYD-PER flight to arrive into PER late (due to headwind), but make up the time on the way back (due to tailwind)

I had the 'pleasure' of circling Canberra for about 30 minutes one morning waiting for the airport to open after the QF direct 'red eye' service made an extra-fast flight due to prevailing westerlies

Sorry for going OT slightly but the moral of the story is that QF where possible, and other mainline carriers, will go out of their way to help passengers. Whether this be for cancelled flights or denied boarding voluntarily.

Add this to the mix, even DJ who are experiencing alot of problems with their new NZ domestic flights, tried to book people onto QF and NZ to try and help them out when their flights were cancelled! Tiger truly don't care.

Don't you love the way they report 737-300's with 180 passangers and show an Australian 737-800 in the photo, i have no idea exactly what they are flying in NZ (i would have assumed 738's) but something does not match up.

Delays happen, happend to me from SIN and LHR the other day, in total almost 10 hours ! you just have to smile and accept it sometimes.

I actually think it's pretty good that they got the 737 part of it right.
