Well it looks like it is finally here, Tiger Airways Australia now has check in for Aussie domestic flights for passengers traveling with carry on baggage only

Its hidden quite deep into their website, but something is better than nothing

Tiger Airways

Gives me even more incentive to travel with TT if the price is right, otherwise I'm sticking with QF:mrgreen:

Cheers,

Josh:p

Although they've added the FAQ and an information page, the actual check-in itself does not appear to be available (yet!).

I don't have a TT booking in the next 48 hours so I can't check.

Still a good sign of thinks to come (well one hopes)

I think this will improve the experience of some pax but it will also drop the revenue for TT as less people will be paying the $70 change fee when they show up 44 minutes before the flight.

It does however say you needed to request OLCI during the booking process so I guess there may be a charge in there for this.

Also not many holiday makers would be going hand luggage only.

Just did a dummy booking to check about the request & couldn't find anything to suggest it, It could be after the payment page maybe?

The cynic in me says it is a difficult as possible because it was cheap for them to set-up :!:

Or they could take a Ryanair approach and make some dough out of it, think of that advertising

***PAY ONLY $5 TO CHECK IN ONLINE AND SAVE YOURSELF $65 IF YOU MISS OUR 45 MIN CUT OFF TIME***

can just see it now:rolleyes:

I'd consider $10 to be closer to the mark with this :!:

On the plus side this might save a hell of a lot of screaming pax down at 'ye olde' T4 (literally)

My thoughts went straight to a new charge for OLCI, TT "Making it easy for $19.99"

I can't see TT letting people do this free.

I'm actually flying out tomorrow (from sydney to Melbourne) and recieved an email yesterday saying as a valued Tiger airways cusomer (never flown with them before). I have been selected to trial their web check in service. It then has a link on the email to check in. Haven't done it though as you are only allowed to use the service if you only have hand carry. If you're checking luggage in, proceed to counter as per normal.

Definitely tempting considering it is a long weekend, flying out tomorrow night, and I've been told that the line for Tiger airways can be quite long on such days!

My partner is only taking hand carry so will test it out then, will have to see if I can fit all my stuff in a hand carry bag before I commit.

Interestingly though they say you should still get to the airport 1 hour before the flight and ideally 2 hrs before. Not sure why?

Perhaps in case your flight has been cancelled due to low load and they've failed to inform you:!:

Syl78, Can you please post the link to webcheckin if its not a unique one? I have a TT flight on Saturday and my email is down. :)

+1. I have a Tiger flight on Sunday and this would be handy (assuming I do not receive an email myself).

Hi guys,

Apparently I can't post a link until I have 10 or more posts...

Here it is attached...

Just tried to check in this morning for my flight and it comes up with a page that my booking has been blocked from web check in! Highly strange since they sent me an email stating they have selected me to trial their web check in!

Makes me suspicious on whether the "web check in" really works! It also says to print the error page and proceed to airport check in!

I hope it works for you...

so I was a bit curious on why I was getting an error, so I called Tiger Airways, as on their help page it states:

"If you have met all the necessary criteria to web check-in for your flight but are not able to web check-in or your name has been incorrectly displayed on the web check-in page, please call our call centre and they will be pleased to assist you in your query."

So I get a guy obviously from overseas and I say I'm having problems checking in online. He then gives me a spiel about how Tiger Airways only allows people with hand luggage to check in online, and if you are eligible you would have recieved an email. I then said yes I know I was sent the email and clicked the link, and it came up with an error... to which he hung up on me!

I know my airfare was cheap, but thank god I'm flying Qantas on the way home!

Thanks Syl78.
Here is the Webcheckin Link from above. Tiger Airways Online Flight Check-In

I was not selected as part of any trail or anything but It worked fine and the boarding pass pops up in a PDF.

There is no option along the way to change seats like JQ/DJ. If you dont pay the $7 it will automatically allocate you one.

Here is the pass..
