Tiger Airways Web Check In

I has been noted somewhere (But I can't specifically recall exactly where I saw it) that if there are more than 9 people on one PNR that you cannot check in online.

The only way around this is to give tiger a call and have them split the PNR up into 7 groups on different PNRs (I think that = 42 pax in total)

If you do that you should have no problems

9 is the number for QF. I wouldn't know the number for TT

I'm pretty sure the max number of pax is 9 for OLCI, same as JQ and DJ as its a navitaire limitation.

Or they could take a Ryanair approach and make some dough out of it, think of that advertising

a) What happens if you checkin online with Tiger but have luggage to drop off when you get to the airport ie how much is checked luggage with TT?

b) If you wait until you get to the airport you pay $20.00 for the privilege of checking in with a real person with hand luggage only but again what if you have checked luggage too?

c) Is the limit of checked luggage 15 kgs still?

Starry, I wouldn't mind betting that if you have a group of 42 that you cannot web check. I'd be trying to find out the maximum number of people permitted in one booking number for web checkin then do as dk4 did & try and get them to divide the pnrs accordingly.

Just because the lady on the phone didn't say group size would be a factor doesn't mean it's won't be. She may not have encountered that scenario before so assume nothing.

I would find out who the ground handler is for TT if your city of departure, & call them directly (may be easier to get hold of them than Tiger)as these are the people who physically check you in. Eg in Darwin I would ring Aerocare & ask them, as it's those people that would be charging any monies at checkin.

Reservations and airports are like chalk and cheese when it comes to giving out information so I would go with the info that you are told by the people who will be doing your checkin ie airport staff.

Always better to hear it directly from the 'horses mouth' as even if TT res said you didn't have to pay, if they were wrong it's pretty much a case of too bad so sad - a lot of $$$$ x 42.

BTW how early can you web check with TT? It's not outside the normal window by any chance is it? Most airlines are 24 hours before.

I have booked a flight for 42 people (school excursion) departing in 5 days and every time I try to web checkin, I get the "Your reservation has been blocked for Web Checkin" message.
I have called Tiger, and they said to try in another hour (been there, done that). They did confirm that we are eligible for web checkin since we only have carry on and it's a domestic flight.

I have emailed TigerAustraliaPaxInfo .... still waiting for a reply.

Any ideas???
I don't think it's reasonable to charge 42 schoolchildren $25 EACH to check in when it was the computer system's fault.

HELP!!!

Starry assuming that you have now travelled, how did it go & what did you do?

Is your return trip with Tiger also?

Tiger Know the fine print - or pay $25 extra. And dont loose the printouts!

At T4 I observed a number of distressed people and mothers - having to fork out an extra $25 for 'web checkin' as they discovered there are no machines at the terminal (Think Virgin).
IF you did not print out (hardcopy) your checkin at most 4 HOURS before - you too will be paying for it.

Any children under 14 on this flight reservation are accompanied by an adult over 18 years of age on the same reservation**.
This caught many mothers out, as they checked in , but assumed children would not be charged - but oh yeah, they were.

No point running over to T1, T2 or T3, as their internet terminals do not have printers - and besides they close it 4 hours beforehand

Tiger Airways

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS
If you are aged between 12 and 14 you will need a parent or guardian to sign a Tiger Airways letter of indemnity at check in before we can let you fly. If you are under 12 years old you will need mum, dad or a guardian aged 18 or above to travel with you.

I am not sure what they are trying to say, but it sure looks and smells like
direct discrimination against children and brats ( a good thing - let's hope the discrimination commissioner does not find out ).;)

BTW: The counter staff were always miserable, now they are even more so, as
this was an attempt to get rid of even more staff.
My ticket also listed airport charges at $32 for T4 MEL. I wonder if this is true.

Good to see Web Check in Back for Tiger, up to 72 hours before your flight.

TT have also installed several airport kiosks which would be handy if travelling HLO if you haven't done OLCI.
