Tiger Airways seeks new CEO as Tony Davis set to leave

TIGER Airways Australia is losing another CEO, with Tony Davis leaving the airline and its Singapore-based parent company.

Mr Davis had been group president of Tiger Airways Holdings but took over as CEO of the Australian airline in early July, a few days after it was grounded by Australia's air safety regulator.


With the airline flying again, Tiger today said Mr Davis would leave the group in November.


Tiger's acting boss Chin Yau Seng has been appointed CEO of the Singapore-based company, effective November 1.

Not sure what you're referring to, but Tony Davis did an absolutly sterling job getting Tiger off the ground in Singapore.

Pity that a bunch of f'wits were appointed to run the Australian arm. But, that's life.

On a serious note, he would do very well with TT... Both the company and it's customers are 100% about the bottom line which is what AJ really understands well.

As posted on the relevant thread the article seems to have a misleading headline and is light on facts.
To that end I therefore think that the confirmation is also lacking.

It would appear from reading this that; CASA got more funding to do more checks and inspections, they have done so and Tiger was found to be non conforming.

This certainly doesn't confirm anything let alone CASA attempting to kill off Tiger. We could stretch this further and say the US FAA tried to kill off Tiger using a third party to do the dirty work, but I think that is just silly.

I guess that's easy to say for people who don't like airlines such as Tiger.

I also assume from your comments that you don't believe the FAA was serious about freezing Australia-US flights.

You must know a lot more than me. I just worked in a senior role at CAA/CASA and visited FAA on a regular basis.

Please let me know the reasoning you have used to come to the conclusions you have.

Just quickly, if that is the case shouldn't you consider not making (or confirming) negative comments about your firm on a public forum?
The way I see it is confirming information release into the public domain via a leaks website is not a good move for career longevity... Certain superiors who know you personally may not like it, and us internet users who don't know you may assume you don't know what your talking about. Basically it becomes a lose \ lose situation...

(PS I do know what it's like to have to hold ones tongue)

Oh, and just for the record, in a previous life I was a senior employee of CASA's predecessor, CAA, so I might just have a very small insight as to how these things work (or maybe not).

Quite right, I actually no longer work for anyone (apart from maybe myself and, of course, my wife and kids).

I am happily retired from the Australian Public Service and in receipt of a small pension from those fine folks. Of course people must know who I am, but I don't beleve I am breaking any laws.

All of which allows me to speak what I think the actual truth is (within limits). And that article about CASA was more or less spot on.

Does everyone feel safer now?
