Hi Guys,

I have been holding off booking and havent flown for 2 years now but i really gotta start using up some of my points before they stop extending them. I was looking to book a trip to thailand, I am fully vaccinated (had my booster a couple of months ago). I am still confused by it all. The rules and things keep changing all the time. If I was to book my flights first (to make sure i am able to at least get the dates i want) can i then quite easily cancel my points booking / redemption in a few weeks time if its too difficult to fly to my destination?

Also the VTL flights, i presume that just means its a requirement to be full vaccinated and i have to show my status. I presume Singapore Air still has requirements for a PCR test 48 hours before? I was previously told This PCR test can only be from certain companies or something , is that right?

So then I presume I do a test 48 hours before i depart sydney, print my vaccination status and show them etc as i board / check in. And then another test when i land in thailand . And one more PCR test 48hours before i board my return flight? Am i getting that right?

Hi @lonewolf, you can cancel a reward redemption with SQ but they will charge you a fee to put the miles back into your account. Cost is $75USD for saver and $50USD for Advatage.

You will have to show the following regardless if it is VTL or not because you are flying form Sydney and the Thailand pass will require it:
- Vacination Certificate
- Negative PCR test before flight (can be with any company as long as they give you documentation of the negative result and/or fit to fly. The SMS negative results doesn't not work)
- Approved Thailand Pass with QR code

You need to apply for the Thailand pass too which will require you to upload the following documents:
- Vacination Certificate
- Proof of 1 night hotel stay
- Payment of on arrival testing PCR
- Travel Insurance that will cover you up to $$$ in medical due to Covid.

On the way home from Thailand, you will also need to get another test. I think Australia is now accepting medically administered RAT tests now done within 24hours before your flight. Again this can't be done yourself and you will need to find a clinic who can supply you documentation of the negative and fit to fly.

Thanks mate, Very informative, Been looking through the forums for weeks and talking to people and i was just getting confused about it all.

I had thought the RAT just meant arrive and do one at home, ok, so i need to do it before i get on the return flight and it needs to be done by a proper clinic, didnt even know Clinics did official RATs etc. Good to know.

Is there a PCR test clinic / company and Covid Travel insurance company that people on these forums recommend? I think the travel insurance requirement for Thailand was 20k down from $50k but i will need to double check that.
