Things Virgin Australia Does & Doesn’t Do Well

What's the deal with arrivals boards in the Lounge? They always put me off when I'm trying to find my flight and then realise I'm looking at arrivals not departures. 50 per cent of the boards for less than 1% of the people in the Lounge. Can you even get into the Lounge if you are waiting on an arrival? I guess if you are meeting someone when you've flown from somewhere else then there's a case for it. But I don't think they are necessary. I may be wrong.
Handy to check where your bag is about to emerge if you've just popped in for a coffee, but particularly in places like Melbourne that seem to love calling boarding well before it actually starts, very useful to see if a plane has even arrived at the gate, and if so, how recently. Saves the stroll to the gate only to see that there isn't even a plane there yet. (Yes, they should make fix the boarding calls, but for now... )

Maybe then a distinctly different background colour for arrivals. There I go again, complaining like a old person (after my milk jug rant above).

Doesn’t do well…. international connection.

In this case VA domestic connecting with to SQ to Europe, via SIN.

VA international connection check-in desk advises passenger the bags can only be checked to Singapore, where they will have to be collected so they can re-clear security.

This is all one ticket, with a 60 minute connection in Singapore.

VA adamant that ticket should *never* have been issued with such a short connection time because bags have to be collected.

Bag receipt has it tagged to the final destination… but VA advises passenger that the bag may still be off- loaded for collection in Singapore - despite it being tagged to the final destination - so bags can be rechecked and undergo security.

This is not VA to some obscure airline… this is to one of their key partners!

Manager/supervisor confirmed agent’s view that bags can be through-checked through Singapore.

I used the chatbot yesterday to chase some missing points from an insurance promo. The bot quickly knew it had no idea what to do so I got a human (or at least a bot that passed the Turing Test) and my problem was sorted out quite quickly. Was handy not having to call in this case as it wasn't major enough to warrant hanging on the phone to explain it several times.

One of the most annoying things is when hosties single you out to put away your laptop one second after the cabin announcement. They could walk to the back and start hassling people who actually have had a chance to comply, if they had any interest in improvement.

It’s a little thing, but agree they could leave the business cabin until last to do the whole ‘cabin ready’.

It's actual an SOP to start from row one and last row so..... Write to them and say you don't like the SOP.
I don’t think anyone was looking to the crew on this… it’s a management issue that just seems bereft of any thought.

Have crew provided feedback on the SOP to management? Or are passengers just wasting their time?
