The Whisky Club discussion

$1950. 1 bottle available only.
Yep, I was expecting it to be in the order of $2K. Just a wee bit outside my budget, I am afraid. Looks like I'll be sticking with the Paul John this month :)

That's ridiculous. Don't know why they bothered to do a massive write up on it as an add-in then?
I guess they need to be sure to actually sell it. I wonder how may people will be racing to be first to the add-in button in the wee hours of Friday morning?

Tonight I am enjoying the Hellyers Road 16yo Pinot Noir Cask Finish which was the club Whisky of the Month back on March 2021. Yes, I know, its been sitting in the cabinet for awhile, but I knew it was going to be good and was waiting for a good event to share it. Shared a dram with my new son-in-law upon return from his and daughter's honeymoon last week, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Now that its open ... I'll have to enjoy it myself ;).

Well, here we are again - the first Friday of the month. I am in for the Paul John port cask, which reads like it should be enjoyable. Also pinged a few mates who enjoy sharing a dram or two with me to see if they are interested in joining via my referral code in pursuit of the referral competition this month. Not sure if I really have a chance, but its nice to dream.

I've opted out this month but keen to hear the Paul John feedback and how it stacks up against the Morris (for those that tried both). Nicks had a Glenfarclas offering on Thursday which got my whiskey money instead.

I'll report back when it arrives :)

Well, I think I will end this month's referral competition with 6 new active member referrals that fit into the competition timeframe. Thanks to the two AFF members who are included in that count (plus several mates who love to share a dram or two with me, and my son). But alas I expect that is not going to be enough to win the Lagavulin 26yo prize. Oh well, it was fun trying and great to introduce more whisky lovers to the club - and a few referral drams going to new members too. And maybe those mates can bring their own contribution to our next get-together ;) - nahh, I always love sharing with them. Great promotion, The Whisky Club.

This stuff is legit. Up there with some of the best I've had. I've just gone in for a top up bottle.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. Due between 3:05 and 5:05pm today, according to Aus Post. Looking forward to sampling it. Thanks for your feedback,
The natural colour is amazing. I enjoyed it with a couple of caramel crowns, but it would go great with some dark chocolate, or probably a cigar if thats your thing

Caramel Crowns - Check
Dark Chocolate - Check
Cigar - pass (unless its the old candy type I remember from being a kid)

Now, what do I have in the pantry/fridge/freezer ... looks like its going to be cookies and cream ice cream - Check.

My Paul John Port Cask arrived today and I do like it even better than the earlier Morris Tokay Barrel (which I did like). Very happy with my first ever sample of an Indian whisky.

As we approach another First Friday of the Month, what are people thinking about this month's offerings?

The Glenfarclas Oloroso Sherry Casks 2012 Vintage looks like a good safe bet for a nice whisky.

I'll be opting-in for the Benriach Smoke Season, which I expect to be right up my ally.

Just need to decide - go for both? go for 2 x Benriach? Hmm, decisions, decisions.

I'll be going in for the Glenfarclas, and honestly considering a 3rd bottle of the Paul John.

Such a corker of a whisky.

I'm an opt out this month. I think you can shop around for a more aged Glenfarclas for a few extra bucks.

For $250 delivered, the Nicks 25yo Glenfarclas is the deal to do imo.

Also for the peat lovers, they've got a good price on the Lagavulin 16.

This is how I've played my whiskey money this month.
