The Whisky Club discussion

I note that anyone joining The Whisky Club before midnight 5th December (in time for the December shipment) will receive a mini of The Balvenie DoubleWood 17yo.

Who has ordered the club Advent Calendar for 2021 and ready to celebrate the season? I'll be settling in with the December Starward Finished In Tawny Fortified Casks while watching for the jolly fellow dropping down the chimney - might need quite a few drams as we don't have a chimney ;).

I’m a little peeved at The Whisky Club. I thought they emailed members each month with the current monthly and optional bottles. I’ve never received any email and I have complained to them three times via direct email and via the web site now and they never respond to the question?

Seems like a little doggey operation to me?

The obvious question is to check your spam folder. I always receive the monthly email before 7am on the first Friday of the month. The December email arrived at 4:01am (AEST) on Friday 3rd December.

The email comes from the email address "drams at mail.thewhiskyclub.com.au".

Thanks. Yes I understand how email works. Done that. No email. No details of monthly option. No response to query by direct email query or via the web site.

Pretty poor!

More suggestions? How does one contact these cowboys?

Have you been receiving the whisky each month?
Has your credit card been charged?
Can you log into your membership account on their web site? And view the Account Details section to verify your email address, shipping address, membership type (one bottle or two bottle membership) etc.?

I wonder if your account setup has not been completed?

You will only receive the email when you have joined as a member and they have your credit card details and delivery address. Then the process is that if you don't specifically opt-out of the monthly offer, then you will receive it and it will be billed to the credit card they have on file. You can terminate your membership, change email and/or shipping address any time when logged into their web site using your membership credentials (email address and password).

If you are unable to make contact via email, then try their Facebook page for communication (I have not tried communication via Facebook, but note they do seem to be active on Facebook).

Yes I’ve had two deliveries and credit card charged.

Account setup complete and you should have received the gift from your referral.

They don’t have a phone contact and have not responded to 6 requests for help. I’m only left with a chargeback on the next order!

Could you try to contact them via your account and see what their problem is?

Can you log into your account and verify that the email address they have on record is your email address? Perhaps change the email address to a different email address for a month and then if ok, change it back to your preferred email address??

You can opt-out via the web site (which is exactly where you are taken if you click the "opt out" link in the email.

I can only assume that there is an error in your email address in their system, which may be why you are not receiving any emails.

Yes I can login. The email address is correct. I posted a Facebook message.

Nope. An acknowledgment but no satisfactory response. Very poor.
Disappointing indeed. In the meantime, I'll try to remember to post the relevant information from the Whisky of the Month and optional add-ins here so you can make your choice and log-in to your account to opt-out or opt-in as you choose. Though the main details are also posted to their website about half way through the previous month, so its easy to see what is planned for the following month.

ok. They phoned me this morning and we've changed email addresses so now I get email from them.

NFI why we wern't received earlier emails. NO spam, no filters would affect their emails.

So all's well for now.

Great to hear you finally got it sorted.

Strange things can happen with email systems from time to time. I was unable to receive work emails from one of our major suppliers on-line systems, which left me unable to reset an account password. Other people in my team were all working ok, but nothing from their domain to my work email address was working. Eventually I understand they removed my account and created it again, and then emails flowed. Nobody involved in the troubleshooting process could explain why it was not getting through.

Now, sit back and enjoy the whisky :)

Well, its almost that time of the month again, with the April Whisky of the Month decision time approaching quickly.

An Aussie whisky this month (they sure are becoming popular!). This one is the Morris Tokay Barrel, exclusive to The Whisky Club. I'm in for this one for sure. I am a great fan of Morris Tokay, so looking forward to tasting how the Tokay barrels shape this whisky.

There is also a Lagauvulin 26 year old available if anyone is looking for a birthday present for me. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to convince Mrs NM that I need it more than she needs a new dress for our daughter's wedding.

Well its a new month so Friday will be day for the May Whiskey of the Month email notification. This month is Bladnoch Ember Cask.

And a few optional add-ins available as usual. The Carowa Peated Single Barrel look very interesting to me (yet another Aussie Whisky). At $170, I am certainly interested.

Last month I topped up with Morris Tokay and Muscat Pack. Not impressed. The whisky from today barrel however was quite nice.

I normally do like the Morris fortified wines, but have not tried their Cellar Reserve Grand Topaque (Tokay). I did like the Morris Tokay Barrel whisky and will likely try more of the offerings in the future, but don't expect to buy more just now. This month's Bladnoch and Corowa Peated are more up my ally.

The Morris Tokay Barrel was strange, I got a real peat flavour from it. I was really looking forward to it as my fav whisky is fortified cask (Overeem Port cask is my #1).

With this months, Bladnoch are usually solid, so I'll be opting in.

FWIW: One of my favourites is Edradour Sauternes Cask. Unfortunately only available direct from the distillery and essentially now all out of stock.

Yeah I went the full whack this month - looks like a strong opt-in across the board. I had the alarm set for midnight to ensure allocation of the Glenlivet. Keen to try the Corowa Peated as the Corowa Dreaded Drop (peated, chardonnay cask) is very good.

Currently the Starward Maple is only available for referred and referrers (free 200ml bottle to both sides). Genius way to get people to put their mates in.

[redacted referral - please re-post the referral in the referrals thread: Whisky Club Referral.]
