The Whisky Club discussion

Just a single for me. Whisky closet is running out of space ;). If the BenRiach Smoke Season was still available as an add-in I might have been tempted for add that one to the order.
FYI, if there's a whisky available for ad-hoc purchase in the month leading up, you can usually contact their customer service team and they'll add it to your order for the next month - I added an extra of the Smoke Season to my October order! 😉

What do you think of the Miltonduff? I keep umming and ahhing about pulling the trigger on it. I liked the Glenburgie enough to double up.
Just sipping on my first now.

Note: I'm only a week out of Covid, so palate isn't back to it's best.

Nose I'm getting vanilla custard, ripe banana, notes of irish cream.
Palate is heavy banana, touch of clove, but that's about it. light finish. plenty of alcohol but I haven't had a whisky for a couple of weeks so that's probably contributing.

I remember drinking circa rona and all I would get is alcohol burn so that taste note of 'alcohol' is expected. Took a bit of time but taste bud sharpness eventually comes back. I know I notably got a distinct milk chocolate finish after the Glenburgie. I'll probably get a Miltonduff just for the series sake. I was fortunate enough to get a double up of the recent Bushmills in your pic.

Anyone else tempted to pull the trigger on the "Ballantine's 17 Year Old Single Malt Trilogy with Plinth" offer that has just been announced?

Pre-order a combo of the previous Whisky of the month offers of Miltonduff 17yo (Nov 2022) and the Glenburgie 17yo (June 2022) and get this Month's Glentauchers 17yo and receive the commemorative "plinth".

I still have my Miltonduff and Glenburgie unopened in the cabinet, and planning to take the Glentauchers in July to complete the trilogy. But seriously considering pre-ordering another Miltonduff and Glenburgie, getting the plinth, and taking a double-up of the Glentauchers in July, resulting in two full sets of the trilogy - one for "now" and one for "future".

Anyone else going down this path? Any comments on the Miltonduff and Glenburgie from previous months?

I loved the Glenburgie which I'd ordered a second bottle of. I got a very pleasant milk chocolate note to it. I regretfully didnt pull the trigger on the Miltonduff for reasons I cant recall. I've put in for the plinth promo after having a hiatus from opting in.

I've got a few of my TWC bottles up for this current live auction at Australian Whisky Auctions. The Lark Rising Tide surprisingly already at cost price so hopefully does well.

I have almost finished my first bottle of Glenburgie (which I really enjoyed), so had already ordered another bottle which just arrived... so the Glentauchers will give me a full set and I've opted in too many times lately to justify ordering a full second round - as much as I'd love to do what you're doing!

I'm hoping my labrador pup Bella will win me a set! head over and give my pic a like to help me out ;) The Whisky Club post - please like Bella!

So, who's going to order this bottle tomorrow, perhaps @NM? Bargain price!

Given the amount of fraud in “old” whisky, one would have to be very sure of the provenance, but then again if you can drop that amount, it will probably never be opened to check.

Well, if it was older than me then I might have considered it. But its just a young whipper snipper at 54, so I might wait for something a little more matured :p

But I am expecting 4 bottles to be delivered in my July package (1 x Multonduf, 1 Glenburgie x and 2 x Glentauchers to complete 2 sets. Now adding those up, that is 68 years in total. Got to be better value than a paltry 54yo Lock Lomond - regardless of whether you take the high road and I take the low road ...

I will also be completing the set this July, but truth be told I haven't been buying much whisky lately. I'm sure saying you can have too much to you doesn't hold much weight, but I have too much not opened to keep buying.

Pleased to have now tasted all 3 of the Ballantines trilogy and absolutely loved the Glentauchers in which I will definitely order another one. It would be my pick of the 3 which is impressive because I really did like the Glenburgie.

In order of my preference and my tasting note
1. Glentauchers; pancakes
2. Glenburgie; milk chocolate
3. Miltonduff; berries and cream

All 3 are just good if American oak bourbon cask is your thing. Not sure TWC will deliver this sort of quality again for this price point given where whisky prices are headed. I keep thinking they are going to have to raise their cost range to stay in the price point of good whisky.

Great feedback. Thanks. I am still waiting for mine to arrive. Apparently some issue with Australia Post meant my order did not get sent until Wednesday, and due to arrive early next week.

I think the continuing growth of number of members helps the pricing due to total volume of whisky flowing through the club.
