Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

All on SQ. I am also wondering the same thing about SilkAir.

No SCs or points on Silk Air, same goes for any non SQ operated codeshare other than VA.

SilkAir operated flights are not eligible for Points or Status Credits accrual.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

As per the Velocity site

Points will not be earned on fare classes other than as specified above. You cannot earn Points on codeshare flights other than those operated by Virgin Australia. SilkAir operated flights are not eligible for Points or Status Credits accrual.
Please allow 14 days before raising a retrospective Points claim for Singapore Airlines flights.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Thought I would just pass on this 'Mini status run' which I hope can help out some of the Perth-ites here.

Now that you can earn Status Credits on Skywest, and full Y fares earn under the Business/First column, a round trip PER - BQB in Full Y earns 80SC for $334

This would come out to $4.17/SC.

I spoke to Skywest Reservations today, and they confirmed that a booking into SkyFlex will always book into Y

Gold/Plat also have lounge access in Perth, at least until the Terminal WA opening

That's fantastic, thanks so much for putting this up - we Perth-ites are a bit hard done by when it comes to status runs - we don't have the option of quick flights up and down the East Coast at cheapie fares so it's great to have this info. I was thinking of using PER-BQB for status runs myself next year as I think we will both be falling a bit short to qualify (me) and re-qualify (hubby) for Gold, but wasn't sure which fares booked into which class as Australian airlines seem to make it as difficult as possible to find out this information!!

By the way, do you know whether Busselton airport stays open between the arriving and departing flights on Friday and Sunday evenings? If doing a status run, I'd just want to go down and come back the same day, but I think it's nearly 3 hours between the flights. I know there's just a waiting/seating area etc but would be quite happy just to sit and read a book or whatever as long as the waiting area is accessible during that time.

Thought so. That sucks!

Do you guys think this good value:

MEL-SIN-MEL

wit a SIN-KUL (or LGK we will either spend a couple of days in SIN or KUL)

120 SC's for ~ $1100 vs ~$750 direct MEL-KUL on emirates...is it worth the extra $300 odd?

It's not often something half decent pops up for Perth, thought it was due a post

The flight goes PER - BQB - ALH - BQB - PER, and the airport does stay open during that time. Essentially after the PER - BQB lands, the staff then open check-in for the BQB - PER.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

That's great, exactly the info I'm after -well, looks like Busselton is on the cards for a status run or two, if and when needed - makes a nice change to have a status run option that is (a) 2 very short flights so can be back in Perth in a few hours and (b) can earn a decent number of status credits without breaking the bank or having to fly right across the country!!!

ETA: I decided to check with Skywest as to what fare classes their Skydeal falls into (the next level down from Skyflex), and they advised Skydeal books into S, T or L class - on the Velocity website, T and L class with Skywest are listed under full-fare economy, but S class is listed under discount economy - so if you book a Skydeal fare, how on earth do you know which fare class you're booking into?? Could be a bit of a trap if you're expecting to get 40 SCs for a return trip but only end up with 20!

Looks like $149 MEL-OOL flexi's are no longer.

Yeah to find out which class it will book into, you would need to do it over the phone.

I'm sure someone here has the details on how to look at the source code on the website and find the class that way, however I couldn't tell you unfortunately.

Yes, sounds like it. I tried the right-click and "View Source" which works on the Virgin site but couldn't find anything applicable in that window re the fare class on the Skywest site. As you said, maybe someone here will know how to find it!

Just remember to be careful as to which SQ fare you buy... there bottom 2 don't earn SC/Points.

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Yeah its the flexi saver fare, booking code W I believe

Can anyone else find a way to get DJ SC's from MEL - KUL? Departing 3/11 returning 11/11 (12/11 return is fine) for <$1,000

I'm struggling to find anything cheaper than MEL - SIN - KUL (silkair) - SIN - MEL for ~ $1,250

Emirates MEL - KUL - MEL is $770 and I'm struggling to justify the extra ~ $500!!

Bear in mind it's for two people, so I can pool my wife's SC's over

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

Silkair do not earn SC's on VA

Silkair do not earn SC's on VA

Yeah I know, I was just pointing out that I will have to get a flight from SIN to KUL and at the moment it is Silkair. I can't see any other way of getting to KL and earning DJ SC's. If I change that sector to Air Asia I save b/w $60-$80.

Any hints?

Re: Need 4 DJ sectors and 130 SCs by Sept 1

If you have the time and inclination you could go by rail or bus from SIN-KUL

Interesting! hadn't considered that! Thanks!!

Any hints on how to reduce the $1,116 MEL - SIN ticket?

Depending on whether I go the emirates MEL - KUL or the SQ MEL - SIN will determine my need for the train.
