China Southern increases flights to Australia

You don’t need a transit visa these days, until the end of the year Aussies have 30day visa free exemption, and that’s likely to be extended next month. CZ are currently offering HND ex Au for $750 odd next year.

Sorry you're right.

We weren't transiting we just stayed overnight near hotel.

Still needed to fill in a bunch of online declarations but not visa.

I think you only needed to go to complete a form at the airport will do?

I am still puzzled with foreigners' process to enter China, because as a Hong Kong citizen, we cannot use passports to enter China.

Most points of entry by air are transitioning to electronic arrival cards (in place of the physical blue card) for foreigners, with some airports now installing kiosks on arrival to do them too and stopping handwritten cards altogether. This is presumably to help with collection and subsequent use/linkage of data, but actually does make the entry process on arrival easier - show the QR code from the electronic form at entry to the immigration official and off you go. Faster than what it used to be.
