The Virgin Australia Newbie Questions Thread

My next basic question, do reward flights count towards eligible sectors for status?

My next basic question, do reward flights count towards eligible sectors for status?

Terms and Conditions (clause 7.1)
Eligible Sector: a flight with a “VA” flight number that you have flown excluding Reward Seats and Economy Lite fares. Your Eligible Sector balance is calculated daily on a rolling basis according to Eligible Sectors flown in the previous 365 days.

Not exactly a newbie question, but don't want to start a whole thread...
Flying MEL->LAX on UA, do I have lounge access in Melbourne with Velocity Gold? I'm not quite sure based on the available information.

If flying in Y, VA Gold and Plats get access to the SQ lounges in MEL and SYD

Thanks mate. I'm flying in W, so sounds like I should attach my Virgin number to the flight rather the UA where I have no status.

Thanks for the earlier replies folks. Appreciate it.

Are there any particular airline/airport pairs that come with cheap taxes?

Eg: In OneWorld land, FinnAir is exceptional value.

Anyone else experiencing delayed points/status credits on recent domestic VA flights. Usually the next day of the flight the points/credits are posted to my account.

Flew a day trip on Wednesday and nothing on my account yet.

Not for flights I took last weekend; posted within hours of landing

Hmm thought someone was amiss, will lodge a missing points in a few days if nothing has come through
You will need to wait until 14 days after travel before they’ll accept a missing points claim.

Just curious, did you Fly Ahead at all? I find that Fly Ahead flights usually take a couple of days to post onto my account.

Hi all,

Just wondering what would happen in this scenario. Say I’m 20 status credits away from attaining gold and I complete a flight that earns 55 status credits. Would the extra 35 status credits not needed for attaining gold go towards requalification? Thanks !

I was on 480SC and Silver and took 2 flights (15SC+30SC). when they posted the points a day later it showed me at 525SC with 45SC/400SC towards maintaining gold. not entirely sure what happened, I suspect I was randomly bumped up to Gold after the flights but before the points were posted.

Interesting, seems your 45SCs are counting towards your next year of gold.
Nice.

How does status work when moving quite quickly from silver to gold?

I'm just about to hit the 250 Status Credits for silver, but will get another 250 within a few weeks after that for a total of over 500 ... Will that get me to gold or is the counter "reset" when I achieve silver so that I actually need to get another 500 status credits for gold?

It's a rolling one-year period to upgrade, so your existing 250SC will count toward the Gold target. But you're at zero for renewing Silver next year.
