And of course today is also the 124th anniversary of Parliament moving into it's new home in Canberra.
The session at the exhibition Centre on 9/5/1901 was only the official opening. Subsequent sittings were held in Victoria's Parliament house.

Actually Federal Parliament sat in Melbourne until 1927. It then moved to Canberra.

Which is exactly what I have said apart from the small mistake in the maths. Moving to Canberra was the 126th anniversary yesterday.
The only time the Exhibition centre was used for a sitting was the first day for the official opening as they thought it was the only venue big enough for the crowd expected. Then the Victorian Parliament House was used for the Commonwealth Parliament sessions.

CWA conference is in Canberra next year. We were warned that there would be celebrations regarding Parliament and to book our accommodation early.
