The view or two from my "office"

I believe that's where I'm staying now. Just a name and possibly the ownership change
There were two Pictada properties, one where you are staying I think, the other where we stayed is in the older part of town, which was Lord McAlpine's old house. Where you're staying looks good, especially when it was just bush when I first went to Broome in the early 80s

Were you there when Cousteau jnr had his winged yacht at the pier? I was doing siesmic up there at the time.
Did you ever have the beef ribs at the Cable Beach Club back then? Best value monster meal ever.

No, I was there before then, just after the road from Port Hedland was sealed. Where the Cable Beach Club is now, was a grotty backpackers caravan park called Bali Ha'i. Most of the time I was based down in the Pilbara, or up at Kununurra in my surveying days.

The view from my “office” for two nights, Mercure coughnal, Sibiu, Romania. The trees are part of natural forest, a slice that eventually meets the main forest and continues to the Carpathian Mountains. And yes, bears have been known to come to town!

This afternoon we visited the Astra Museum, Europe’s largest open-air museum. Set in the forest, there are over 300 buildings: houses, workshops, water mills and wind mills. It really was lovely to walk through. Although maximum temperature today was 32C, most of the day was a pleasant 28-30C.
