Recognised it from photos my parents took there a couple of years ago. I'll have a look at prices next time in town, although will probably end up booking Conrad with the hope of a suite upgrade :D
Damn those golden handcuffs... :p

My office today was Schonhausen Palace, built by a Prussian Minister in the late 1680s, later the summer palace of Queen Elisabeth Christine, wife of Frederick II of Prussia, from 1749-1797, and most recently used by the general secretaries of the Socialist Unity Party of the GDR (eg Hoeneker) until the fall of the Berlin Wall. A lot of Prussian history here, with a collection of items rescued from Schlobitten Palace before it was destroyed by the advancing Russian army in WW2.

Office used by Erich Honecker, the General Secretary of the Socialist Unity Party, who led the German Democratic Republic from 1971 until the weeks preceding the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

Going to be a bit contrarian here. View from my day trip office today. Awwwww... poor thing. Teeming down rain, really bumpy road and not a cuddle for miles!
