The US and CA with a child – history, waterfalls, big cities, woods, jail and another Disney (belated)

This time to Boston, Niagara Falls, Quebec City, NYC, San Francisco and LA. Tea parties, kids museums, waterfalls, snow, aquariums, parks, American Girl, American Girl, and more American Girl, Beverly Hills, and another Disney checked off the list. Again this report will have a focus on activities with kids and other things that interest us. May not be as interesting as Japan as we some parts are well known on this forum. Like most of our travels the girls travel on points. It is also another belated TR.

We are heading to BOS on 2 separate planes. The girls are going the long way round via 2 longer flights but it beats multiple connections in a day. QR is also a better airline, MissM wants to see the big bear in DOH and would also like to go completely around the world not half way and back.

First stop for the Girls QF F lounge then off to the plane the QR a380.




MissM was completely unaware of what was to come next and was beside herself when she realised.

We had not told her she would be in F and she told MrsM that this is so much better than the QF F plane from Japan. Ok I never did fess up to the QF747 F fib I told her six months ago and was about to hear about that later.

My day of travel, I was leaving a day later well around (15 hours) SYD-DFW-BOS.

The only thing that I can report is that QF did up grade me to F. I forgot to take pictures in the F lounge or many photos of my F suite but most on this site probably know what that looks like.

I guess at about the time I was taking off the girls were arriving at DOH

Boston we stayed at the Hilton Back Bay so in the morning we started walking along Newbury St to the downtown area

Though the park MissM was quite taken by all the squirrels.

We caught the ferry back long wharf and then just walked back to the hotel.

Although the Hilton had a lounge MrsM was not impressed that there was no free fizz and if she wanted some it could be purchased so off to the bar I went. Apparently under Massachusetts law it is not legal to give away alcohol or have happy hours. The lounge is small and not flash. When discussing what was on the cards for tomorrow there was resistance from Miss walk back to the harbour area so we will be using the subway Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum and other places.

Plans changed next morning the girls decided they wanted to go to the shops.

I do not consider myself to be a foodie however I do like fresh produce and looking in fresh food halls


There are a number of small eateries was grabbed some lunch at one on them

Not sure whether this TR is live but Niagara on the Lake is a stunning detour once you have seen the Falls

After lunch we just wandered the streets around Copley Square.


A library is not normally I would take a photo of however the area was being set up for the Boston Marathon and as I walked past took a quick snap as a memento of the marathon I would never run. Come to think of it I will never run in any marathon

@I love to travel no it is not live I am playing catch up, however we are going back to CA next year. I need to wait to next week to start booking process, we normally book the outbound and inbound about 11-12 months out then work out what we would like to do.

Next on the list was the Children's Museum

more as it was quite an interesting place.


After the museums we walked to china town for a late, well very late lunch and then back to the hotel.

The next day was our last in Boston so I went out in the morning and early afternoon looking at some things that I was interested in. First off the bat was Fenway, and had there been a game playing when we were there MrsM and MissM would have found themselves either at the park or shopping by themselves.

I have mentioned a number of times I am not a big fan of flying most likely due to volume of flying I do. I am a fan of cars, trucks and trains so I wanted to take one last look at the fire station up the road from the hotel. The ladder and fire truck were missing, to me this was a disappointment so I continued up the street to but some new headphones. On the way back the trucks had returned


Now off to BOS to get on the plane to BUF pretty much standard US airport stuff, the only thing that I noticed was the AA lounge staff were happy to let MrsM and MissM straight in, however my white card seemed to cause confusion, they acknowledged that there was a OWE green symbol on it but did not understand why it was white. I was let in and the lounge was the same a most other AA lounges.
