Bligh looks to be gone from her seat, max 6 seats for labor.

One wag on twitter posed the question "what's the difference between the QLD Labor Party & a Tarago? A Tarago will still have 8 seats on Sunday. :p

May not be far wrong, some figures have LNP with 65 seats against Labor 4!
Cheers
N'oz
ABC 24 now has it as:

LNP 75
ALP 6
OTH 4
DOUBT 4

A swing away from Labor of 15.8%.

And at the end of the day QLD Liberal is ousted because they could not do any better than QLD Labor!

Australian State politics is way too predictable....

Never seen anything like it.The ALP primary vote has fallen below 27%.no ALP candidate has more than 50% of the primary votes-24 LNP and 1 KAP have more than 50% of the primary votes.Several electorates have the ALP coming 3rd.In Warrego they are only a few votes of coming 4th on primary votes.
I cant see the ALP winning in 3 years from here.
PS in Nanango they are running 4th.

Nanango deep Joh-land. I'm surprised anyone even bothered to run there.

I know this should not be in this thread but I believe this is still off topic

After all the hoo ha with this election, we're kind of glad to be missing the local election. Though hoping they get our postal votes to us in time.

6-10 seats.....what a joke of a party:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

IIRC, if they not get 10 seats they are not even recognised as a party in parliament....hahaha

Wasn't that long ago that the hopelessly corrupt National/Country Party was thrown out in much the same fashion.

Here it looks like a combination of incompetence and weariness are the forces for change.

Do remember that absolute power is highly corruptive and I truly hope QLD doesn't go back to those disgraceful days of when Joh ruled.

An effective opposition is essential, especially when there is no upper house to temper the most outrageous demands of a government who has lots of mates to pay back.

Quite a few bright sparks on Twitter.
This isn't a swing, its the whole playground set.
At least the ALP can now carpool.

Yeah well the people of QLD have spoken - if it results in massive corruption then they only have themselves to blame. Except me (at least) - I didn't make the affirmative action represented by the people tonight so I'm excusing myself from any collective responsibility.

Unless, of course, the people of QLD would rather corruption over incompetence.

An effective opposition is essential, especially when there is no upper house to temper the most outrageous demands of a government who has lots of mates to pay back.

Can't have it both ways. An "effective" opposition results in paralysis, so nothing gets done except for political ballet. Witness our absolutely hopeless federal situation.

Matter of opinion.....do you think Joh was any different to say - Brian Burke or Neville Wran:?:

The state of the parliament (no upper house) never worried the ALP for the last 20 odd years!

Well yes Joh was the premier of Queensland, unlike those other 2. Having experienced the tip of Joh's corruption in my life and hearing all the other stories about people who got much worse than my family; not hearing similar stories from friends/family in NSW and WA about those 2, I'd say Joh was very different. Perhaps get the 4 Corners anniversary app and watch "The Moonlight State".

As for 20 odd years, try 14 years and you might be close.

Seems you forgot Gordon Nuttall and Merri Rose.

Oh they were premier were they and they set up a whole web of corruption through out multiple government departments? Or were they insolated people who were kicked out once caught. Seriously 21 years of absolute corruption through all levels of government and public life can not be compared to those 2 people. I'll wait for you to tell us our Joh did great things for Queensland. Yep, and his mates did well as well.
