UK General Election in a month and a half or so. The political ads on TV are quite different to Aus. Rather than slating each other it's more just a hey, look at what we do.

Cottesloe's resident wallabies are a lot more aggressive!

If you don't fee qualified to vote then just don't. Either vote informal or don't vote at all and pay the fine. But it's easy enough to educate yourself about who is who and what their policies are. I'd be embarrassed to come out on a public forum and say that I couldn't be coughd to figure such a simple thing out for myself.
It is actually the other way around.

It is embarassing the candidates have no character. Dull. It is certainly a different era in politics.

Don't forget that you aren't personally voting for the next Premier unless you live in their seats.

This sometimes makes it harder because you might want to vote for the party but not that particular person.

Sydney Royal Easter Show starts today.

T is for Easter Show.

If you are expecting to be able to get your Showlink ticket at the train station or on a bus, forget about it.

They are only available online, at the gate or at selected Woolies stores.

In previous years, the one magnetic stripe ticket got you on public transport, in to the show (they would move the barriers from Olympic Park station to the show entrance) & back.

But now with Opal & many more people commuting to Olympic Park (aka by me as Oxygen Park), things will be different.

Went to Woolies to buy a packet of hot cross buns. You got a bonus domino for that and our 2 oldest grandkids are collecting.
Walk in and there is a big display of said buns on special-2 packs for $5.60.I hate that when you only want 1.
Go up to the display and note that the packets are $2.56 for 1.:D:confused:

so what? it's an election, not the search for the next Gold Logie winner. As I said before, don't bother voting if you can't be bothered to find out the bare minimum. There really should be some sort of qualification to vote beyond the requirement of being 18 or older.

You just have to be in the right place at the right time.

You might remember a few months ago that I applied for part time work, in part because I am my mum's primary (solo) carer & I wanted to reduce my work load to work 4 days a week instead of up to 12 straight.

I made the application with an accompanying statement from me & a doctor's certificate stating I'm a carer.

Not surprisingly (as people suggested here), they wanted proof of conditions & care given.

I got mum to come to the doctor with me (no easy feat for someone housebound) & got a shopping list of her conditions. That & another statement from me followed as well as support from my manager.

Yesterday I hear from my manager. Paraphrased from the conversation, the CMO basically suggests that I can do whatever I need to do before & after work. If I need to take time off, I can do it with carer's leave with a doctor's certficate.

Today my manager will be talking to Rosters to see if they can reduce my workload so I can work 4 days a week. My manager has always insisted that working 4 days a week instead of 5 isn't much but even with me working a 10 day fortnight, it is possible to work up to 12 days in a row without overtime. Even 10 day stretches are a real stretch for me these days.

The ABC fact check unit doesn't seem to be very effective. This from the 7.30 report-

I don't disagree with you. Voting shouldn't be compuslory.

Likely to vote Liberal in an electorate Labor has held since prehistoric times.

Polls predicting a romp to Liberals.
