Time to start wheeling out those CtC PC points then. Or HH points. Of course, who is to say that hotel availability of award rooms is already very low, or even zero (i.e. those special "blackouts" on award rooms that hotels tend to do when events of great significance come to town).
HSW does not even have points availability :!:

I like the fact you refer to me & +1 being in town as an event of great significance ;) :D :D

It was nothing, sire. Now would His Majesty be so kind as to oblige in stopping the blackouts and giving us back our hotel rooms and cheap air fares :p

Dang! :-|

I am off to AKL 2 Fridays between now and next year ... the 18th November is one of those evenings. :(

Where's the 'dislike' button when you need it:idea:

We arrive Thursday evening, could always do some drinks on arrival as an extra option.

European style travel! :cool::D

Unfortunately our trains suck. I got a taste for trains on my last EU trip earlier this year. I fell in love with DB and the ICE in First Class. €6 for half a litre of Duval? Sure ok! (Expensive by Euro standards, bloody cheap compared to what you pay back home so I really did not care). Oh and the ICE is comfortable, and very quick. Eurostar was a letdown (cabins old and tatty in the middle-class).

Eurostar is a letdown and a priceup:!:

CP and the IC have points night available, knowing PC they will probably make both points breaks!
Yes I have considered those as options.

Cheapest room at HSW is $580 minus the 20% for HPC = $464 (ouch)

I've now found a points bookings available for the night at HSW. Starting at only 178,342 points :!:

Currently in the MEL Virgin lounge partaking of some ATA awaiting the arrival of a friends flight.

The Shiraz in here is really very good. Take note QF. It is possible to stock your lounges with things other than paint stripper!

Didn't you have any points?

May have had points but what seat availability on appropriately timed flights considering the AFL Finals...good luck

Well I had to burn 25000+$40 to get there via SYD on Friday morning (which was a hard decision).

I had 45,000-odd, there was 1 seat via ADL at a sensible time on Sunday but 18000 points - would have left me with 2500 points.

Considering the only way I can earn them is by flying...I am very precious and protective of them. At least this gives me a chance to fly the wounded animal before it is, perhaps, put down...

I am shocked that no one else has pointed out that it was the 75th anniversary of the death of the last Tasmanian tiger today.:p

 I read this post completely in error and replaced tiger with "devil".
Thought I must have been hallucinating on my last visit to Somersby ;)

Actually there have been unconfirmed rumours that he is alive and well and working in Maccas at Gympie alongside Harold Holt and Elvis.

No.I used to regularly have brekkie at that Maccas on my way to the flashy centres of Gayndah,Mundubbera,Eidsvold,Monto and Biggenden.Only ever saw JOK weorking there.;)

Yeah - can see that. Only available options (Classic Awards) on QF about 2 days either side of the AFL Grand Final. For VA, I found only one option connecting PER and MEL which is the tightest you can get (30 Sep and 2 Oct). In both cases, options only available in premium classes (i.e. J for QF and Premium for VA). Tried directs and indirects.

Well, 'tis the season. Would really burn a lot of people again if they draw and need a rematch like last year...

On my iPhone here and too hard to check but what about two Rex flights via say Albury? (if anyone else is looking). Surely not too many people trying that?
