The proscuitto (apologies for spelling) salad is quite good - try that next time.

Dont worry doc.Us medicos dont have to worry about spelling as no one can read our writing any way.
The salad was one of the options in the J cabin on QF528 yesterday.

Salad ??? Give me a Luke Mangan pie anyday, in fact I will be having one tomorrow afternoon .

It's full of proscuitto and cous cous - not much actual lettuce.

I would like to try the Luke Mangan pie. It's going to have a lot to live up to.

I have a DJ flight coming in November. Hopefully by the time they reach blue zone they'll still have some pies left!

The prosciutto salad is still around?

I had offered several times back in May. It's not too bad; plenty of stuff to chew on ...

FWIW, flying MEL-SYD-DRW-BNE-MEL the best meals were the offers out of Darwin.

You're not wrong there! My wife is an RN at one of the private hospitals in Adelaide and one of the doctors there is notorious for not even being able to read his own writing.... :D

Quite frankly I would go back to the QP if the party pies were back.Of course if I'm not with the lovely mrs.dr.ron thats where I am.
I would not even have to think twice about party pies. I miss them. :(

Sometimes I resemble that remark.

Well, pleasant news today from the team at the WA Police Rail Unit. I’ve had word that the indigenous Australia who assaulted me last year at Burswood Station without provocation after shouting racial abuse at old Asian ladies leaving the casino was convicted late last month.

For those who don’t remember the story, here’s what I wrote at the time:

The end result is that he was convicted at a hearing, and received 6 months with no parole for Assault occasioning bodily harm. The hearing also covered a number of other charges against him, the details I didn’t wish to enquire about.

The six months is not to be served concurrently, so it’s on top of everything else he’s been convicted of.

And another interesting fact, once they had identified and finally caught up with my assailant according to the officer handling my case – they did so whilst he was in custody and appearing at the Perth Magistrates Court on other unrelated matters. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

While it may take a little time for cases to come to their conclusion and offenders brought to account, this blight on society has been brought to account for his crimes, and will have a stack of time to think about where his life has gone.

The justice system works.

So the person who treated you badly deserves prison but the people who treat animals badly deserve to be forgiven? I'm confused.

Not a great deal of difference in the judicial courts between humans and animals, and the treatment thereof.

Current situation;

Human treats human bad= acceptable,
Human treats animal bad = bad (badness recognized by RSPCA),
Animal treats human bad = bad (animal usually killed, but owner will have very little penalty)

I used to think we had a long way to go until animals had a voice in Parliment but with our current crop of politicians I'm not so sure...

It was only a matter of time before someone took the 'Takedown' bunker clip and had a crack at it involving any airline. I can see the PPRune crowd are having a good chuckle over it.

The tl;dr version: Joyce is Hitler, pilots aren't happy about the expansion plans, claims the way pilots are being treated is akin to human rights violations.

So what is there to do at 5:00am in the morning, read AFF of course.

That makes sense. ;) But the lounge would have to be in mint condition.

Great comment, pity you can't like it on the iPhone, yes I probably could get out of bed and turn on the computer then I know for sure I would not get back to sleep, staying in bed means that there is always a chance that I might full asleep again.

I flew a few sectors in Qantas J and I liked all the offerings.

I did take a J flight last month but I passed on the food offerings because I wanted room for this breakfast.

Should take you 2 seconds to work out where that was.

Is there a list of smiley codes anywhere.

One meal that Qantas long haul can't get right is breakfast, first they give you a menu to fill out and then forget the fruit, ;(

This isn't really OT but the QF J catering SYD-PER today was an absolute shocker : "Moroccan Barramundi with spiced couscous and green beans" . It's been a while since I flew J Domestic and I was a little underwhelmed by the experience. Hopefully the trip home will prove me wrong.
It was however a pleasure to meet Mrs and drron in the J Lounge before boarding :)

And it was a pleasure meeting you too Princess Fiona - you are the first AFFer I have met ( as long as you dont count Drron ) :D

Wow it must've been a good trip to wait that long. :) I have my next two trips planned (FT SIN DO in Jan and US in Mar) and am thinking of a quick trip before then.

I was considering another trip on the return journey.

Was the trip for pleasure?

Usually when I get back from a work trip, I'm dreading the next one (not so much the flying, more the work/disjointed week, etc)

What flights have you planned for FT Sin Do, I haven't even thought about 2012, I still got the rest of 2011 to plan.

I have a work trip to Sydney in July planned, not booked. Thursday 28 July return Sunday 31 July, and I have Saturday 13 August and returning Sunday 14 August, to compete in the Sydney City to Surf, accommodation prices are dam high. I have a flexible hotel booking but really need to find somewhere better.

AFF5 in Canberra Oct 7-Oct 9, which is booked, should be fun, looking forward to it.

And a flight on the ANA 787 needs to fit in their somewhere as well.
