Not at all. Fire is purifying. The other is, well, burial.

We had a number of breakins in our first home. And a few attempts. We installed a burglar alarm when we built. MrP came home during a work day and could see through the house from the front door of a guy at our back sliding door about to put a hammer through the glass door. He dialed 000 but they just wouldn’t answer. In the end he just opened and slammed the front door and yelled out to him. He scampered over the back fence. There was an attempt to break into a window. The third time was after we’d sold the house a week earlier and we’d had open inspections. Clearly they’d attended. They knew exactly where to go stealing computers, kids electronic games, and my jewellery.
Arlo security cameras. Try them.

We had crooks and cops jumping our 6+ft fence into our yard - cops got them. I was in my kitchen when it all happened basically in front of me.

I sent hubby the link to the door bell video thing. He bought some solar power security lights for the yard last year.

I’m out of date. It was in force for flights to the USA from UAE etc but it seems to have been lifted.

Really? I thought most items are not covered when removed from the house? Must check ours.:)

This very much depends on your policy. Some are, some aren’t. And if it was a business expense, not covered by domestic. But who would tell them ;)

When our house was on the market last year, all valuables such as jewellery were moved to mums to prevent theft issues.
This is so wise. And when we put our house on the market next year we will insist on names being taken. If that puts people off then so be it, it will still sell.

Had my needles for Africa today - decided to go with flu and pneumococcal as well. Apparently the flu vaccine for over 65s can cause flu like symptoms. Didn’t need rabies as my rabies treatment from my cat scratch in Istanbul a few years ago is enough :)

i think that’s standard? They always do in Canberra - mainly because they want a hit list to follow up. Of course there’s no ID check, so you can put down any name you like.

I have always said that even if someone got into my place when no one was home, it’s another story as to whether they would get out again.

Close to 70kg of dog tends to be a bit of a deterrent.

Knock on the front door and there is a very loud, deep greeting and look in the window and you will see what is barking at you. Come via the backyard and there are enough signs there is a big dog in the house. I wish them luck...
