The totally off-topic thread

Especially if a Liquids and Gels restriction comes into place. No other way to get water after airside unless you buy it. Interesting timing.

I will no longer feel bad about grabbing a bottle of water from the lounge when we leave for the gate.

Carry an empty bottle through and fill after security

There was a thread somewhere that someone had their empty bottle taken off them before boarding the flight or security. Cant remember what airport but it was empty.

Is there free water in Adelaide for example? I know you can’t drink our tap water as it’s recycled. I never use those bubbler ones either because there are some real grubs around but a dedicated bottle one would be ok I guess although people might put the neck of their unwashed water bottle up to the dispenser. Which is why on ships for instance you have to use a clean glass or cup for every refill. Nah, as a traveller I’d have to buy a new bottle. Not worth the risk.

I need hubby to make a decision. Safari in Nairobi or Sth Africa or Iceland. If we go to Iceland, will tack 4 days in Amsterdam or Frankfurt (prefer Amsterdam).

Oh please please let us have a golf thread to stop the rest of us having to sift through this arcane persuit and languages.
As opposed to the other discussions that are boring? I'm sure you can wade through the odd post on golf like I wade through pages and pages of constant waffle?

I know MEL has taps especially for filling bottles.

Depends on the ego!

Looking to get a good friend a gift. He plays golf. I I think I will get him a $500 gift voucher at a Golf Store in Canberra.

What can $500 get at a Golf Store?
What’s a good golf store in Canberra?

A generous gift. It might just be me, but if I was the recipient I wouldn't want to be tied down to having to buy from a specific store, same as buying any sporting gear

There are water fountains. Some airports don't allow you through with empty water bottles but the majority do.

I think I resemble that remark!

Drummond Golf? I don't think there's a Golf mart or Golf world and there are probably some specialist stores there.

$500 will get you a decent golf driver or a set of half decent irons. Or could use ss a deposit to something like Titleist AP1 irons which cost $179/iron.

Make sure he looks around and don't be afraid to price match or ask for discounts.
Drummond Golf is the only one Mr FM is aware of, apart from the golf clubs themselves.

Iceland, purely for that extra four days in Amsterdam.
There's a great book about Amsterdam by Russell Shorto, detailing the city's history and prominent figures.

After watching Absolutely Champers last night I have added a trip to the Champagne region to my wish list.

Perhaps one day.

Pursuit of perfection in golf is an individual thing.
Although some would argue, “golf is a good walk spoiled”.
