In the Brisbane Times today =

"Five Cameroon athletes competing in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games have gone missing from the athletes village."

It is not the first time Cameroonian athletes have gone missing.

In 2012, seven athletes from Cameroon were reported missing from the London Olympic Games.

In 2006, more than 40 athletes and officials who participated in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne overstayed or sought asylum in Australia, including from the African countries of Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone

Don't worry. They'll be contactable on Tinder.

If you actually look at the breakdown of days, it's not really that many days. But it sure makes a nice sensationalist headline.

No headline in my post .... just the breakdown ;)

Me to husband: 8 athletes have bolted from the Commonwealth Games.

Him: They're athletes, aren't they suppose to run?

Me: Yes but IN the Commonwealth Games, not from the Commonwealth Games.

Is he related to Peter Marshall,Secretary of the United Firefighters Union?

No idea

Isn’t 65 days leave around 13 weeks?

Yup, and should probably be the only number in question. I'm my math is correct, just over 27 of those 65 days are time in lieu based on their standard week. If you took penalty rates into account, that would actually turn into 47 days. Then add the 20 any full time employee gets and you're at 67 days. So you could make the argument that they get less than they're entitled to.

Their standard week being how many hours? Oh wait . 42 hours with non penalty rates. 5.5 extra hours a week. Over now, 39 weeks worked. Works out to be around 6 weeks leave. Bringing it to 10 weeks leave due.

Today in Adelaide was one of our wicked hot days. Dust storms. Hot northerly winds. All of SA affected. So far, no large bushfires. Power stayed on. And in a few hours it will be cooler. Reckon in mid summer the temp would have been in high 40’s. Well, it was around 39 according to my car anyway.

Europe is becoming a cot case. Full pension retirement at 50. 30 hour week. Macron is trying to turn it around but it’s getting difficult.

And the USA has a pension blowout coming up very soon and the cause is allowing people to retire after 20-30 years service.

Another blow for heartland workers: Slashed pensions

And even the much vaunted US Social security system is in peril.

Lots of countries need to rethink how after work payments, i.e. pensions will be funded.

European countries are first in line but USA cities and states aren't too far behind.

Yes! For no particular reason, other than I just don’t “suffer fools gladly”

OFFS. What are weekends for?
Well, that’s we we had to do. It’s like those Pram parks in car parks. They are not legal. But how the heck did we manage all those years ago.......

Bayside in Brisbane is absolutely glorious. Boring place to live

I dissent from that notion, I love where I live (almost bayside)
I could /can live wherever I fancy and I fancy where I live.. :)
