The totally off-topic thread

I've seen similar on both US flights and various Asian ones.

As far as I'm concerned, it's an appalling practice, which basically teaches the passengers that the signs don't mean anything. If the signs are on, then EVERYONE should be seated. Crew included.

Watching a Singapore girl trying to pour champagne whilst in quite nasty bumps was interesting on many levels.

Bringing this over from the 'ask the pilot' thread I guess the interesting thing is that in theory, there should never be an announcement on Qantas that the service of hot beverages is suspended while the seat belt sign is on... as service in total will have been suspended.

Different airlines have different policies for the use of the sign. There are several levels of turbulence... ranging from a level which might make it potentially unsafe for some passengers to be up and about (for example the elderly), but ok for experienced crew... to levels where everyone on board should be seated. Two family members were cabin crew, they felt comfortable with their experience to still be able to conduct service in the cabin with light turbulence. But that doesn't mean it was safe for everyone on board to be up and about (hence the seat belt sign).

Appreciate QF's use of the sign and it that it means everyone needs to be seated, but they are the only airline I can think of where that policy applies. Everyone else still rolls out the 'service of hot beverages is suspended' message (meaning crew are up and about).

Beautiful!!

Meanwhile, at least a 7 on the evil scale.
...

Hilarious! Reminds me of this... for The Simpsons fans:

"Hey! This emergency exit is just painted on!"

I dont hate the man bun, its cute on most but once you reach a certain age, it has to go.

Man Bun can cause hair loss.

Dermatologists say the hairstyle could lead to hair loss.
"That longstanding pull or traction on the hair can pull the hair out and ultimately lead to permanent scarring, which is something we call traction alopecia," said Dr. Doris Day, a New York City-based dermatologist.
Traction alopecia develops when the hair follicles are scarred because hair is pulled too tight, too often, she said. The hair loss can be permanent.

I guess because its Gladstone? Very poor service, or lack of service.

We just had ANOTHER fire evac because someone burnt toast somewhere, or tripped a desk heater or something in the building.

Checking my records, we had to evac March 29th, April 3rd, April 4th, May 9th, May 19th, June 6th, June 20th. Ridiculous! Told the building manager that I have 2 very pregnant ladies (who now have evac buddies) walking downwards in spirals for 8 flights who are getting dizzy because of these false alarms.

Deliberate false alarms?.

More like the building built to lowest tender and wiring is stuffed.

Creepy Cat set off our sensors 4 times so far tonight. And stands there, staring at us.

When are you leaving Cossie? With the cold mornings here it's a good idea! (Actually we are leaving for Tokyo on 17 Jul) :)
I am stuck with the cold mornings, as we are looking after the grandpuppies while Ms FM is on honeymoon. Plus I will end up with chronic indigestion - they watch every bit of food you put in your mouth, so I end up bolting mine down. Enjoy your trips both of you :)

First Dates Australia is a fantastic watch.

I prefer to say... we have so many more TV channels compared to previously, and yet finding something which isn't trash on TV is much harder than before!*

You know what I miss on TV? Some actually decent game shows.

* unless you are prepared to pay for it
