For gifts from Vendors for my office, I collect all the gifts and today everyones name goes into a box and drawn out to pick something. This way Supply and Marketing doesnt get everything, its shared to all staff.

So after making sure every single persons name is in the box and names being drawn out, happy people getting champagne and hampers.... I realised by the 2nd last person that I forgot to put my own name in the box :(

Brisbane... turning on the sauna now... and yet, there is still a cool breeze about.

Been a freakin cold summer so far here in Adelaide so what happens on Christmas Day? 40 bloody degrees. Damn well better not have a power blackout.

Well, should have known it was coming... the sky has turned shades of grey, so we're about to be blanketed with rain.

I trust that Elvis checked the spelling and you remarried the right bloke in Las Vegas ;):p.

We were on our way to get married by an 'Elvis' in Vegas in 1992, but it was going to be way too hot, so we ended up staying in Laughlin in Nevada and got married over the border in Arizona under some eucalypts by the Colorado River in Bullhead City.
We didn't have enough people to witness the wedding so we asked a guy who was obviously sleeping out in the park to be a witness. Very well spoken and said "it would be a pleasure, maam" and he also declined my offer of money.
After signing the various forms, he had the same middle name as me. Not a very common one, "Everett", my mother's maiden name. I'm presuming his middle name wasn't named after my mother's family. :)

Currently undergoing my Run, Hide, Fight - Active Shooter Training.

Not a single person in this video took a stupid phone with them as they exited the building so once out the building had to flag down a stranger to use his phone. I dont believe that.

And for the group that decided to "fight". Theres a screamer in the room that wont stop screaming. I say toss her out first as a shield.

In 2005 I came across the best video ever (IMHO) which used the terms - "Escape, evade, attack" and then went through with many demonstations on how to prepare a room for the 'attack' for example. It was absolutely brilliant.

Strongly encouraged whole family to watch it (strongly) and they still recall it to this day.

Mentioned it to a friend who asked for a link to it. Do you think I can find it...

It went so much further than most of the demos/videos do - such as removing the light bulbs so if an attacker goes to switch on the lights not only do you benefit from no lights but the momentary surprise for the attacker of no lights coming on and their vision being hampered coming into a darkened room etc.

Details such as how to use any furniture in the room as unexpected obstacles etc are obvious once you've seen the demo but without it most would probably never think of them. Such as setting up a chair - seat back facing the door but just outside the arc the door makes when opening so an attacker goes straight into it or has to kick it out of the way (and as a result loses balance slightly...)

Given the crazies around - many of the techniques are just as relevant in any indoor/outdoor location. The idea of being prepared/aware of your surroundings is (IMHO) the most valuable easy take away...

Hope no AFFer ever needs to put it into use though...

.

Now for the fun bit...... looks like I am married to this other guy, as my marriage certificate (the decorative one given by the Church) has his spelling on it.

As they say, "What goes on tour stay on tour." Or maybe, "Never know your luck in a big city." :)

I hate you NAB. Internet banking was at best dodgy yesterday and now it is down completely today. They blather about us getting payments in on time but they have stuffed up their banking platform.

NAB is the bank that started sending my statements to the Republic of North Korea... via Germany.

I love you NAB. Thanks for the $0.99 per share franked dividend.

All working normally for me.

Yes. 3 hours later. ;). I have NAB shares too. But the joy isn't enough to counteract the issues for last 24 hours for our business. Maybe check NAB Facebook to see all the problems.

It was working three hours ago too. It's obviously a patchy problem.

I have been trying to log into NAB since 7.30 and finally got in around 11am.

NAB have certainly acknowledged it and I was on the phone for 30 minutes yesterday with issues for international payments that we make every month.
