Vale Richie Benaud.

Here, Here!

Richie was a signature cricket commentator, loved & admired the world over with his immense knowledge & passion for cricket.

A top bloke, who will be remembered for decades to come.

Rang one of my uncles, a cricket tragic who lives in Sydney. He collects signatures from players (mostly Australians, but has them from all around the world).

We spoke about Richie. He had been speaking to one of his friends who played with Richie. They knew that he was going into the hospice and wasn't expected to come out.

Then tonight I saw some recent shots of Richie - he certainly wasn't looking good at all :(

10yrs ago I flew from BNE to SFO on Good Friday. I distinctly remember the drive to the airport being like driving through a ghost town. A friend picked me up in SFO and hung out with me until we picked up Mr Katie a few hours later (he was on QF, I was on UA, I think). We went our for breakfast, and I was astounded at the difference - jiet a regular day in the Bay area. We would have gone to somewhere in San Mateo or thereabouts, not up in the city.

On Easter sat night, we went to Morton's for dinner. Our server was Jesus.:p

When I went to the US for the first time in 2009, (CBP Officer) Christ let me into America & Jesus gave me a car.

Between San Luis Obispo & Monterey, I passed 2 trucks of the Jesus Christ Trucking Company.

True story.

Saw this ad for a certain product after hockey training the other night & thought it's been a while since an Erkpod selfie on AFF.

I found out today my quest for part time work has gone a step closer. Endorsed by my manager & my roster clerk despite the CMO not being happy about it. Now it's on the desk of the rostering team leader then rostering manager then HR.

Full price J on those carriers is about HK$4000 or so. What do you normally pay for the economy fares?

Also, do the cheap cash upgrade tickets credit to QFF etc at J SC level?
Economy on UL from HKG is ~AUD170-AUD220 and RJ ~AUD260. Add on USD100 for upgrade.

Do you earn J TP if the upgrade clears?
You do with AAdvantage. YMMV with other airlines. From what I can tell the booking class changes to J as part of the upgrade process.

Absolutely. Gone to commentate with his friend Tony now - they were the team I most enjoyed listening to.

Big number! London's Hatton Garden Heist Thieves Make Off With Millions

A crack team of thieves broke into a vault in central London’s gem district over the weekend and raided up to 70 safety deposit boxes, making off with a staggering fortune in jewels, cash and other heirlooms.

Though police have not confirmed the value of the haul, the former chief of the Flying Squad (a London police branch that specializes in organized crime) Roy Ramm estimates the jewelry stolen during the heist could be worth as much as $300 million, reports the BBC.

Rumour has it that the police did not respond to the burglar alarm.

That's media beat-up. Why should the police attend? A private security firm turned up, had a quick look and left. They are negligent, not the Police. (According to reports, the alarm going off was registered with the Police, and the incident was marked as no response required)

From the BBC:

The Met Police said they received a call on Friday 3 April at 00:21 BST and were told an intruder alarm had gone off at the scene but decided it did not require a response.

I'm glad they didn't respond. Already too much money is wasted on false alarms, and doing jobs that private security should have been managing instead.

did you ever do a review of the coffee machine you took camping?

I used it on a number of occasions in the wilds of Tassie.

Probably not the easiest of thing to use whilst driving, so I would recommend using it before the day's driving, or at a suitable stop. When stationary, it is very straight forward.

After carefully filling the machine with 50ml of water, insert a capsule, secure the lid, plug it in and press the start button. It takes about three minutes to bring it up to temp and pressure. Then invert and press the pour button - the machine has to be vertical, or very close to it to allow the pour button to be pressed.

Of course this machine doesn't heat the milk, so we used to heat enough in the morning to last, and put it in a thermos. This also allowed us to shake it up to give a bit of froth.

I tried two strengths of capsule. The orange was just right for me, and the red was a little too strong. But that is personal preference. They are available from Woolies and (now) Coles. About $10-12 for 16.

I thought the coffee tasted great, and was certainly worth the effort when that 'Café' is just too far away. $200 is a lot to pay, but the machine is very solid, so I expect it will last a long time.

I would rate it 7-8 out of 10.
