I posted something similar on Trip Reports, but couldn't resist another pic.

At the Hotel Vancouver, these two are at the concierge desk and are available for the guests to take for a walk (separately, presumably).

I was just about to post that the dog on the bed is the spitting image of our dog Sally, when hubby walked past and said "why have you posted a pic of our dog?"

Somewhat amazed to check the seat map for the flight tonight (QF) and see that business is completely empty 20 minutes before scheduled boarding time. 69 occupied seats down the back. Good thing the capacity war is over. Still this wasn't a discounted seat.

Oh my lord that is hilarious! Every 8 year old boy's dream of fun - poop and fire, so I guess blokes never grow up!! . I assume it's the methane gas? I'm trundling off to work now still chuckling

Do you need to be an Australian resident to join Velocity or an Australian address?

In the first screen of the joining page, it states in section "Contact Information":

You must be a resident of the countries listed to join Velocity

So as long as the country is listed in the drop-down box, the answer is YES. The list isn't long as looks like being all the SWP countries (or islands) to which Virgin flies.

Looks like a penny bunger wreaked its revenge.

Can only imagine that he needed a hot shower after that episode. What a numpty standing that close to the pat. Then again, as kids, we used to hollow out the pats in the field opposite and stuff cane toads in them, followed by chlorine and brake fluid. Similar outcome, but we were nowhere near the close to the action when it exploded.

I belonged to a group of young rascals at school.Condy's crystal and glycerine was our stock in trade.
Very inventive with the devices so that we could have over 30 minutes to flames. So placing sky rockets in bins that went skyward first period after lunch.
The trick that annoyed the teachers though was when we used putty on the blackboard chalk space, filled it with lighter fluid with either a delayed device or a simple paper plane loaded with our device.Flames would cover the blackboard.Mainly done in our French class. The teacher we named "lucky" as in lucky to have us.

The good ol' days...

Just booked a flight for my mum in March and the flight will see her click over to Silver status on Qantas, currently 240SCs.

I did look at the return flight on Emirates First, when I checked it was only $942 but when I checked again today it was back to $1252, business class was $852 so mum will be flying Air NZ with me on a Virgin code share for the return.

Currently our phone lines are down in our office in Brisbane, made my 3rd airline booking in 2 days, as there was problems with it yesterday. Telstra can't give us an idea when it will be fixed.

Someone at Centrelink got a little confused and decided that I'm not a permanent resident of Australia. Seems the Aussie birth certificate confused them...

I never would have guessed that you were old enough to have a "hand written" birth certificate that would be illegible to Centrelink. (said totally tongue in cheek :D )

My birth certificate is on my electronic file. But for some reason they forgot it's there and the system rejected my application. According to the Dept of Immigration (according to Centrelink) I am not a resident.

lets just say that the person I spoke to today apologised profusely and told me how embarrassed she is that they've stuffed up so badly.
