Ok I'll start.

Today I was supposed to be flying to Sydney - had already checked in. Trip got cancelled last minute (flex fare upgraded to J with points).

I called up and cancelled. Fully refundable, both points and AUD used to buy the ticket.

Then, about an hour later, a new date was given to me for the trip. Now, I'd upgraded using the 1/2 points offer and the flex fare was originally $339 but today was $449 so I thought I'd try and get the booking reinstated. Figured it was a long shot, but it will save me $110 each way... so worth a try!

So, I called up, asked if they can help and... they reinstated my original booking and moved it to the new dates for me... after it had been cancelled.

No fees.
No fuss.
No worries!

Put simply - flexible meant flexible!

Love it!

I promise to come back and post when Virgin give me a really good reason....

I love DJ primarily because their pricing/points structure seems to fit me really well (domestic only. .. I have whinges about international). I haven't had to take a domestic Y flight since DJ entered the business space .. was it about 18 months ago now?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

- Priority boarding
- Trans-con seats and service
- Priority Boarding
- 10 points per dollar as WP (even on a 2-for-1 on the Virgin Visa I still get more points than on QF on most flights)
- Priority Boarding ... that works ;)

For giving me a $300 credit for my polite feedback about my discomfort on an HKT -PER overnight flight in J on a 737-800 with no footrests. Not only because I mentioned it to the CSM on the HKT - PER flight - who was wonderful and suggested I send feedback to DJ - but before I could send the feedback - also because the CSM on the DJ/A330 C2C PER-MEL connection followed up my conversation with him about my discomfort on the HKT-PER in J, and whose feedback was quoted to me by the DJ customer service in QLD,when offering me the $300 credit. This means, quality improvement is really alive and well in Virgin Australia, and it has several channels. Politeness is important, both ways...

Secondly, with a broken arm after being dumped badly at Kingscliff beach, the OOL DJ staff taking the time and effort for me in the priority queue to check my bags through through to PNH ( Cambodia) via SIN with a SQ flight I was connecting to in SYD, but on a separate PNR...

Thirdly, the DJ/VA lounge in OOL compared to the recently "r-opened QF J lounge" in OOL. - no windows, paper cups for the coffee, unless you insist on porcelain as I did)!.....

Several more reasons, but I just feel the Virgin Australia staff are more committed..... on the whole, compared with the Others, and that Virgin Australia staff are prepared to go the extra yard.... and it shows.
cheers, PJ

Unless the 737 on the HKT run gets changed to a 330 (unlikely), how is it anything but lip service when the same planes with the same discomfort will still be running those routes?

My first point is about process, and QI in that my discomfort was initiated by DJ staff, before me.

With fights to Myamar ( Burma) booming in the region thorugh other hubs, I expect DJ/VA ( and others) will be looking very closely at feeding into and out out of HKT to Myanmar, and especially to PER for mining/ gas expertise. I'd expect to see changes in DJ/VA metal to HKT from PER sooner, rather than later... My second and third points about why I love love Virgin, remain, cheers, PJ

Where are the changes in metal come from? I'd say it is still unlikely at this stage.
