last year I only took 33 flights and the year before 27... :shock:

It's not the number of flights but where they took you... Or something like that

33 flights is a lot for 99% of people, just that few of those 99% reside around here

How many miles was in the 33 segments?

I dislike early flights. I get paranoid that I might sleep through the alarm and end up sleeping poorly. And then there's the worry of ensuring my weapons (tweezers and nail clippers) are in my checked bags.

Living out of luggage - knowing that everything you take out has to be reshuffled back in somehow the next day and it's always going to be harder each time
The language barrier can be exhausting but I find it fun most of the time .....
Unless you're trying to negotiate about a SIM card.
Or with Rude people at railway station counters- that seems to be their preferred employment, or maybe I am taking the flak from the tourist before me.

The limitations of what you can purchase Duty Free (Cigarettes/Alcohol), knowing that within the Holiday you will run out, and will have to replenish your stock at the normal price. Also the quota of 50 cigarettes (2 x 25 Packets) allowable back to Australia. Like why bother to waste your time?

Considering thread heading, this would be my most hated thing.

On my rare work trips nothing much bothers me (well other than the work part) however it is a different matter regarding personal trips, especially long holidays. We generally always hire/lease a car and luggage builds up but because we have the car this is not much of an issue. What we generally do however is hand the car back and spend the last few days in the city where we fly back home from and only then do we realise how much stuff we have accumulated. Last year we had 160kg of the stuff (between only 2 of us) when I dropped our car back to NJ with the intention of getting the train back to NYC. Had decided not to drop the luggage off first because I didn't really want to drive in NYC. Probably the worst 2 hours of the holiday especially when one of the bag handles broke off at Penn St station. A few days later when getting a cab to JFK, we actually had to get 2 cabs because of the amount of luggage we had

So for me, luggage is first, second and so on the thing I hate most about travelling. Nothing else except maybe my wife's shopping worries me much and as you have probably worked out they are very closely related issues

I think I hate just sitting on the plane, obviously the longer it is the worse it is. I can deal with the airports etc just fine, even LAX and customers.

I got to thinking about the things i hate about travel, whats on your list.

I do hate jetllag, smoke oder in a non smoking room, certain people for countries where its deemed expectable to push in front of you to get on a plane or other transport, and a lack of manners from the traveling public, as well as people who work in the travel industry.

So what are you pet hates when traveling

1/- Cab Drivers who who think by not washing and putting on a fresh shirt & deodarant for the day while you seat in their cab for up to three quaters of an hour to the airport think they are doing you a favour.:shock:
2/- People who think they are more important than everyone else travelling. Then put their cabin baggage into the J overhead and keep walking to the back of the plane.
3/- Rude and unmotivated FA's and front of house desk clerks.
4/- Detecting smoke in a no-smoking room.
5/- Why do hotel minibars and airlines think people only drink full cream milk in their coffee!!!
6/- Other Tourists!!!!

* Being sick while travelling for work - only to return to work and people think you've been on a holiday.
* Rushing in an airport to make a domestic connection because my direct int'l flight was cancelled, after waiting to find my luggage had been lost - only to have some smartarse make a remark about it being my first time catching a plane since I nervously pushed past him on the escalator. He didn't have a retort when I mentioned I had been on planes for 30 hours and just lost my luggage!
* Foul or "stale" breath - you know that breath that smells like they're a zombie.
* Going to exotic places and only seeing the office and hotel, only to have my family think I was on holiday.
* Trying to find free wifi just to get on skype since I have no roaming.
* Self-important passengers who spend ONE HOUR complaining to the CSM because they got a bit of meat in their special-order meal, even after the CSM offers them $100 worth of duty free just to shut up.

Easy for me..... # 1 is other passengers. Some people have no clue whats going on (which is fine for the non FF'ing public), but specifically those that don't listen to clear announcements and directions grrrrrrrrr. Manners (which seems to be happening in general society anyway) seem to be going down the gurgler, especially at boarding and onboard flights!

I'm patiently awaiting the day after the announcement to stay in your seat until the seatbelt sign is off, someone ignores it (as frequently happens) and gets up to their overhead luggage, BANG! the captain almost overshoots the gate but manages to brake a little hard just in time for the idiot to fly into the bulkhead wall. Or how about those in the seat behind who use your seatback as a springboard grrrrrrr..... I'm going to stop now....to many grrrrrs

Over zealous security procedures is probably #2. Very few of the airport security procedures gives me any belief to the actual safety of flying (in relation to 9/11 stuff) because of these procedures, it might comfort Joe public but not me. The number of times I am lucky enough to be "randomly" selected for bomb check, luggage check etc as an individual traveler

That's easily solved by putting the shutter up as soon as the seat belt sign goes out, which is what I do.

You don't even need to wait that long now
The privacy screen only needs to be down for the duration of the safety briefing

Back on-topic there is almost nothing (except for missing my family) that I hate about traveling. I feel that it is a great privilege, and I try to enjoy every minute
