I got to thinking about the things i hate about travel, whats on your list.

I do hate jetllag, smoke oder in a non smoking room, certain people for countries where its deemed expectable to push in front of you to get on a plane or other transport, and a lack of manners from the traveling public, as well as people who work in the travel industry.

So what are you pet hates when traveling

My pet hate is people who believe that the acceptable standards of behaviour don't apply because they are on holidays. it's one thing to let your hair down and have a great time. A completely different thing to be an obnoxious moron with no concern for anyone but your self.

I used to be one of those travellers who worried about whether I'd get the "best" seat on the plane, or a room upgrade, or even a particular colour of rental car! Now I don't care about any of those things. So long as I am travelling with my family and we're experiencing new things and having an enjoyable time then it's all great! I agree with Hvr. The worst bit has to be the period between returning from one trip and deciding on where and when the next one will be.

Coming home and knowing there is a long time until the next holiday.

Same here, as I am not a Frequent Flyer at all there is usually a long time between trips :(

Sitting ( for 14 hours) in a seat in Y when I know there are better seats in J and F

Taxi's... Pure and simple...

I find them expensive, I find more often than not the driver does not have a good sense of direction, and on more than one occasion including here in CBR where I have lived all my life I have been taken on the scenic route. (Luckily phones come with GPS's these days so I can catch drivers out in cities I don't know).

Yeah, when you only travel in J sometimes, it can be a real tease when your sitting in Y, knowing (not just guessing) how good the guys up front have it.

Not being home each night to say good night to the kids. Phones call's just don't seem to cut it.

I love travel. But there are some frustrating things:

- That time on the plane where you've exceeded your tolerance for being stuck in a metal tube and you're just itching to get off the plane.
- The time when you've spent too many nights in a town that isn't suitable for that many nights, so you're stuck for something exciting to do.
- Immigration queues, security queues. Over Zealous security officers and customs/immigration officers.
- Taxis. Really hate them. If there's a (safe/reliable) public transport network, I'll use that instead.
- Being sick when travelling.

I travel weekly for business. When on business travel, some of my pet hates:
* Having someone in the middle seat next to me on the plane (most of the time I have the seat free so that's a bonus :))
* Late change of plane so the exit row is no longer the exit row
* Qantas's obsession with second rate sports stars / actors (only so many times you can listen to Michael Clarke / John Travolta)
* Unruly, uncontrolled kids in lounges (this is a parental issue not a kid issue)
* Masters of the universe sharing their grand dealings through loud phone calls
* Peasants jumping into the Priority Boarding lane - DYKWIA?????

I travel overseas once a year on business (in J):
* Body odour (I can handle an hour but 14?)
* Qantas sloping beds - might be a great design on paper but when you are a gorilla like me just impossible to sleep
* BA footstool beds with forced friendship configurations - happy to make occasional eye contact and nod - don't really want to watch you eat
* Norwegian hotels - small wonder no-one invaded them - a plastic glass is not an amenity - ManU TV is not a real channel
* BA J class in Europe - just stick your butt over one and a half economy seats and to hell with extra anything (except $$$)
* Heathrow

I could go on but won't....

In no particular order

- Loud, rude, arrogant travellers (You know who you are and so do I)
- Delays
- Queues (immigration, security)
- Getting stuck behind people who have no idea
- Overstaying (try to keep trips short as I start to get bored of the place or I get homesick)
- Getting sick or not feeling well (this is never a good one if you are away from home)
- Taxis (Rip off, will only use them if unavoidable)

I hate not being multi-lingual. When travelling in non-english speaking countries I KNOW I miss out on so much because of my inability to communicate in their language. No matter what endeavours you make, the smattering of language you learn to get by on, is just not the same as a good chat.

Also, am not sure who mentioned it, but body odour ugh..!!! being in close confines for any period of time is not good, but for extended periods it's just unbearable. Also persistently sniffing..!!!

That's easily solved by putting the shutter up as soon as the seat belt sign goes out, which is what I do.

If travelling with family hate the transit time and would just rather start the fun stuff.

If travelling for work hate leaving home.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Can relate to johnk but add people who abuse checkin/lounge staff when there is some delay that the staff have absolutely no control over.

My partner can provide many stories about upset passengers blaming her for it snowing. I've asked her many times to control the weather and she's done nothing. So she's either ignoring me or actually has no control over the weather.

From a WP the line 'I am not a Frequent Flyer' seems a little contradictory ;)

No not at all :D

last year I only took 33 flights and the year before 27...
