Because I believe that QF's preference is that we all arrive on the Wednesday to allow reduce the risk of non attendance due to delayed/cancelled flights, and it will also make it much easier to make sure that everyone makes it to the lunch if they are taking us all from one location as a group.

They probably haven't factored in a bunch of AFFers free with nothing to do in Sydney but catch up and drink... Might still leave room for non-attendance...

Haven't had the call yet, but what time is the MEL-SYD flight on Wednesday they're putting you on? Need plan my week - if it's an afternoon flight, I'll probably be better off with the Thurs morning flight.

Cheers,
- Febs.

I was told 'between 6 and 7pm most likely'. They are yet to finalise bookings, they said they'll confirm the hotel and contact me with details.

Or, of course, somehow very conveniently having lunch at Rockpool B&G that day :)

*Cough Cough*

Turns out I'm overnighting for work in 12th/13th. I wouldn't dare crash the party, would I?

Nevertheless, I'm sure I'll catch up with some of you in the lounge or around Sydney.

Fair enough. To avoid this I'll probably be on a bright and early flight Thursday morning to Sydney. That's ok though as I'll get a couple of meetings in.

When you all get your flight details and if you are out if Melbourne on Thursday morning let me know and we will catch up in the J lounge.

Got the call as well. I'm taking the Wednesday night option as it means I can do some work in my company's Sydney office before lunch.

I asked the lovely lady who called about airport parking and her response (after confirmation) was that they would be unable to assist. Bit frustrating as going overnight would mean leaving the car at the airport, but that's life :)

In all fairness to QF I have never seen a competition where the prize included origin parking costs.

True, but this brings into sharp focus what a complete and utter rort airport parking is at BNE. $60 for 26 hours of parking? Who are they kidding ...

Or catch a taxi / skybus. Might cost a bit more (or be more of a hassle), but less chance of a break-in (not sure if Tulla is bad for break-ins, but Kingsford Smith is).

Cheers,
- Febs.

I've opt'd for Wednesday evening, but it does mean my diary is thrown into termoil. Funny too, because Wednesday afternoon is interviews for my PA.

Would it be rude to say no thanks to economy flights and book myself on DJ premium?

Managed to score the day off, a bit tricky as I've just returned from 3 weeks leave today ;)
Any plans pre/post for those not going to the airport?
I will most likely catch the train to/from Central from Broadmeadow.
Looking forward to meeting everyone :)

The Bligh is a pub just around the corner that is acceptable or there are many other hostelries around the CBD/Circular Quay. Might be nice for those that normally only travel to SYD for BIZ to get out and relax like a tourist ;)

I won't be out late as I have another long lunch the next day...

I do believe, Sir, that post #29 came somewhat before post #67. The offer/threat to awilcockson was a mere backup

LOL, sorry guys, my wife is a saint and I'm still going to Sydney (it helps that I'm taking her to Melbourne for the weekend for her birthday :))

I'm going to have to have a little chat with her on Saturday...
