The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Bit of an odd query. Trying to optimise my status earn with DSC and PC. MEL-CBR-SYD is within the 600-mile threshold, and theoretically if flights are taken the same day they would cost the same as a direct flight (19.3k plus tax), while gaining 72 SC on J, but while I am able to get availability for the individual legs (MEL-CBR, CBR-SYD) and those flights being spaced beyond the MCT for Dom-Dom, I cannot book them from the basic search, and multi-city search prices them at double the points cost.

Anyone tried doing this? Is this against any rules, can I force my way through the call center for them to assist?
Does the higher price stick all the way through checkout?

Just a quick query please. Looking at the DSC options. I see Melbourne - Port Vila on "Business Sale" is 120 SC. one way. That wont be the double will it? In other words it will be 240 status credits? Is that correct? And 240 home it will get me where i want. If I am right!

Yes, the booking engine doesn't know that you have registered for DSC, so it will quote what should be the standard amount. If it's eligible per the current DSC terms (booking and travel dates), then you're good for 480 on a return trip.

Did this last April @Speckymagee
Though I wasn't happy with the connection time in BNE, so went the day before and stayed overnight at Pullman.
SC's posted mid air, DSC landed 24-48 hours later but this 480 earn bumped us both to WP!
So for our trip 60 to BNE 60 to VLI = 120 then double gets you to 240 each way

My thoughts exactly! Thank you!

Silly question, but this won't count for Points Club + upgrade redemptions, will it?
Status credits on QF classic rewards are eligible for DSCs if you’re PC or PCP.

However, classic upgrades see you get the original SCs (but with DSCs if the original ticket was booked during the promo).

Not sure where best to post this.

But recently booked the following on Cathay in business:

Bangkok - Hong Kong - Chengdu - $722AUD - 120 SC

Beijing - Hong Kong - Tokyo -$755AUD - 140SC

I have a need to take these flights in any case, but economy was around $300 per flight anyway. So the jump to business seemed very reasonable, for around $5-$6 per SC

I booked a rather exotic route recently which won't suit everyone but there are similar ones available. I needed to get to Singapore and then back to Eastern Europe later in the year so this worked.

RUH-CMB-SIN-CMB-RUH in Sri Lankan Airlines, you can also get a free transit hotel with them in CMB which also suited me nicely.

For $2100 and 360 SCs, pretty good. You can also use BKK or other popular SE Asian destinations, and try different middle eastern routings. I spotted quite a few <$2000 options and the cheapest I saw was $1800.

$5.50/SC is very very good outside of a DSC period. The cheapest European city to SIN/BKK I could find was >$3500 backtracking to HEL.

Was this price for J class?
