The Qantas Singapore Lounge

I was in the SIN lounge the other day when quite a tropical storm hit and then well drilled cleaners appeared with a dozen buckets around the lounge.

To say I felt like I was in a German submarine film was quite the understatement.

So that's why they didn't bother finishing the ceiling...

I was in the lounge twice recently and was quite impressed with the crispy chicken wings (a la Neil Perry's recipe). Not sure what the limit is but I could have eaten 10 as they were perfectly crisp on the outside and succulent inside. PS - Had to watch the carbs else the spicy sauce goes extremely well with rice. Thanks QSL team!!

They certainly look better than when I visited and the addition of the sauce is a positive enhancement. Seems the lounge staff may have revised or received the full recipe from Neil :) :)

Or they simply replaced parts of it with the recipe from the local hawker centre. :)

The QF SIN lounge is back in full swing. The grilled salmon with soft polenta, broccoli and salsa was outstanding. The other option tonight was fried rice with pork and chilli sauce. The chilli was a bit fierce, but nice.

With reference to the bubbles, it's a Seppelt of some sort. To dry for Mrs Halliday. In better news, the 2010 Cabernet was terrific. Especially the fourth glass:).

Glad to hear that the grilled salmon is back on the menu. Always one of my favorites and the combo with polenta sounds delicious!

I was also in the QF SIN lounge last night & sampled the grilled salmon. It was delicious! Though the lounge was busy - the service was up to speed.:D

Maybe I should have had the salmon! The fried rice with pork was the most bland and tasteless fried rice I have ever had, even with double chilli. Caipirinhas were better :) But I still find this lounge so underwhelming. When the Emirates lounge opened I happily moved, to enjoy crayfish, prawns, better wines and proper scotch. It too got crowded but was still more comfortable.

In the Qantas lounge, the Attendant more focused on getting my details so emirates could be billed (was flying on EK) rather than welcoming a (then) P1. Unfortunately all the incentives to fly to Europe are now EK and not QF, even if you prefer SE Asia as a stopover.

I've also tried both, and informed the staff that the salmon was the better option out of the two.

I stopped by the QF lounge yesterday whilst hopping between BA16 onto BA12, they appeared to be encouraging Club World pax to go to the BA lounge, but didn't say anything to me with QF status.
Tried the Fried Rice also and was quite disappointed, Salmon it will be on the way back on BA15 on Fri/Sat.

Generally speaking, airlines usually direct pax to their own/preferred lounge.

Well I was quite happy they did, I poked my head in the BA lounge and it was absolutely rammed with pax for BA12 (747) & BA16 (777) which depart together. The BA lounge is similar to most BA overseas lounges and pretty sad. The QF lounge in contrast was quiet and pleasant :)

The QF lounge is quite good at that time of the night. Only QF6 left, and you might also get the occasional Finnair pax. It's a huge place to serve 1.5 flights.

Visited the lounge yesterday. Crowded, but not too hectic prior to the evening departures, used plates and glassware could have been cleared more quickly.
Had the buffet items and the grilled salmon.

I was told by a staff member that photo taking in the lounge was not permitted.

I have also previously been told the same by a staff member some months ago.

Hmmmm, I'm here right now and took some shots in front of staff of the signage and restaurant areas - nothing said to me.

Design reminds me of an office I just photographed in Bangkok, described as modern/industrial. Looks like exposed pipework and ceiling trusses are the in thing for 2014/2015. ;)

A few people here, but not overly crowded, what really struck me was the expanse of floor space between the tables in the dining area and the food service counters - some prime real estate there!!! :D
