The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

Not quite sure where to ask
About to have my first in many years :( international Sydney business class lounge visit . Curious as to whether this old fat boomer can wear crocs into the lounge ?
Actually sounds a bit fancy, for the international qantas pub :p

My QFF joining date is 6 December. I am 20 SC short of retaining SG. The QFF app states that I have until the end of December to earn the remaining credits. Can I take that as fact or should I be trying to get across the line before 6 December?

It'll be the end of the month that you have to retain - 31st December

I just tried to pay for my Qantas flight with BPAY via Zip Pay.

However afterwards, I noticed that there is a condition that says:
  • BPAY payment is accepted from cheque or savings accounts only.
  • BPAY payments to Qantas take up to two banking days to be processed.
Does this mean I have to wait for two days to find out whether the BPAY went through or not?

Interested to see the outcome here. What I expect is that BPay via credit card is blocked, but it might allow zip pay.

Hey Guys,

I've had several attempts at booking F segments today on EK routes utilising the multi city tool. I have received the error code 4002 [7597] multiple times and had to troubleshoot the searches.

I have succeeded making my way through to the payment page online twice before realising I needed to make a change of some sort and backed out, only to not be able to locate the same F ticket available again when searching. Once you make it to the payment page, do the seats get made "unavailable" for a period of time before being published again or has someone bought 2-3 tickets out from under me coincidentally?

Cheers!

Yes. If you call Qantas and get a competent agent, they may be able to help you complete payment for those bookings. Otherwise, they will be released at some point within ~24 hours.

If you check your QFF account's "My Bookings" there's a chance you'll see those incomplete bookings in there (just because you don't see them there doesn't mean they don't exist though, the call center should be able to retrieve and pay them for you).

Cheers mate, no luck with any competent agent this evening, even after offering this up as a possibility for the issue. Will try again tomorrow!

Hello, I am travelling SYD > SIN hand luggage only. I have completed online check in and received a digital boarding pass. Do I need to stop by the check in counter or can I go straight to immigration and security?

I’ve tried searching but can’t seem to get the result I want.
Are there any websites like seats.aero to track QF award tickets for multiple passengers?

Hello all,

Just booked two domestic flights in Japan on Japan Airlines with my QF number
HND-CTS return.
First leg is in their 'J' class, the return leg is economy.

Just curious to know how many status credits this would be worth?

Finding it rather confusing using the Qantas status credit calculator and partner airline tables as it doesn't quite fit into the categories on the JAL ticket. For reference it states 'Round Trip Saver' and doesn't give me a booking class like Y on the ticket.

I would expect both to credit as "Economy", thus 10 status credits & 325 points.

Can I ask if this would change if I did a paid upgrade before departure to first? Or would that very much be the same 10 credits/economy credits
It should, yeah. If upgraded to F you should earn as "Flexible Economy" rates (20 SCs), I did this myself earlier this year.

Additional findings from others and myself can be found here: QF status earn on JAL
Keep the Boarding information slips you get - hopefully a manual missing points claim won't be required. Based on previous JAL domestic flights, Pts + SCs credit on Mondays.
Semi-related note: based on info from HirafuHeartAttack and encryptededdy, the JAL Explorer Pass and Explorer Pass Plus fares are even harder to figure out Pts+SC earn-wise.
