Flight path for that flight was interesting ( certainly not a regular one ) ..... holding to the N.W. of Bathurst and descending - minor approach deviation to arrive on cue etc. .... link is below, -

In my view one of CASA's key objectives is preventing Australia having nice things. Certainly, nothing as fun as this would ever happen in Australia:

VA posted this picture on there Facebook page today ........now while it is a good picture ......the tag they put on it read, -

"Our daily flights from Los Angeles to Sydney arrive at dawn, so you can enjoy beautiful views like this upon descent.'

Any body see why there would actually be 'Buckley's chance' of seeing that under 'normal' circumstance as VA claimed ?

Um yes, because it looks more like a sunset eg if flying from BNE to PER because if you look to the right of the pic it's slightly darker as you'd expect due to the sun sets in the west.

Also sunrise on Tue 21 Oct in SYD is 0606 yet VA2 is due to arrive in SYD tomorrow at 0543 so they'd probably be top of descent approx 30 minutes prior around 0515 when it would still be dark.

Exactly ...... unless they are for some reason, circling at that altitude, you are not going to have the sun in front of the aircraft for a VA 2 flight making a normal morning arrival into SYD.

Never let the truth get in the way of good marketing :p

Just done a check of the photo on Instagram and it's actually VA7 on the top of descent into LAX...

So they should've said Sydney to Los Angeles, or more importantly as it was VA7, Brisbane/Los Angeles. Seems like a lost opportunity as they could've used the photo to promote their daily (or soon to be daily) BNE/LAX flights.

ps the resizing took its toll, sorry

Looking down on the Tom Bradley International Terminal 28 November 2013 as we're airborne on AA to HNL.

Anyone who's had an early arrival into LAX will recognise the usual suspects whose passengers you want to desperately be ahead of in the immigration queue.

Does anyone have an idea what this abandoned looking airfield is over the water from JFK?
