Well, always a chance she'll be late and I'll see a water cannon salute across the airport

Difficult choice. Booked on QF11 on the 20th. FLounge or watch the homecoming?. Might be able to do both
Choice, last time I checked you get a pretty good view from the F lounge.
Then stored/restored in HARS Wollongong. But will it be a "sleeper" aircraft to be pressed into action incase of A380 IRROPS
Can it even take off from WOL?
I doubt it's going there as a spare![]()
Well they do have a Catalina as a spare in case war breaks out, and a neppy.
So I am assuming that storage space is cheaper at Woll compared to Sydney .....
I find the more interesting thing is they restore and like to keep flying old aircraft, but I know Qantas' dealings with QFOM state they don't want them flying any aircraft, so it just seems odd they'd be getting a 747 to leave on the ground. Also interesting they're allowed to fly the Connie with the "Roo" on the tails...
HARS didnt get the connie from Qantas so they could hardly dictate what happens to it, in fact I suspect Qantas are happy for the free advertising. Having a non flying 747 will help draw more interest to their work and also promote tourism to the gong, its a good thing.
I was confused at first, but I get it now. They still seem pretty happy with having N707JT flying around in (classic) Qantas colours.
JT is already QF endorsed on the 747-400 - maybe he might like it.![]()

Close to 106000 hours of flying and 13800 cycles, and now going to Mojave after LA rather than Victorville.

He's already been offered one, he turned it down since flying them around is very expensive, even for someone who would not be short of a bob.

I'm pretty sure the original QF ambassador deal he did with Dixon included maintenance for the 707.
