The following is Tiger's latest announcement. I thought it is an interesting USP to aspire to becoming a McDonald's of the air - does this mean that passengers will be served by pimply youth in ill-fitting uniforms? At least patrons will be happy to use the bathroooms!

25 July 2007:
The entry of low cost airline Tiger Air to the Australian market will introduce travellers to a 'fast food' version of travel, the chief executive of the Singapore-based carrier said.
Speaking at the Asia Pacific Aviation Summit today, Tony Davis announced Tiger's latest cut-price offering, a $59.95 one-way fare linking Melbourne with the Sunshine Coast.
"Sunshine Coast is Tiger Airways' fourth destination that we have established between Victoria and Queensland," Mr Davis said.
Other destinations to be linked to Tiger's Melbourne base include Perth, Darwin and Launceston.
But the Tiger boss was less forthcoming about his plans for Sydney, refusing to rule the city in or out as a destination.
"I wouldn't rule anything out... we're certainly not going to fall into the trap of other start-ups that have come into Australia," he said.
"They've laid out their business plan for all to see and that gives the competition time and the ability to be selective in how they compete with them."
The Sydney-Melbourne route is widely considered to be the third or fourth busiest in the world, and is serviced by Virgin Blue and Qantas.
Mr Davis also ridiculed a 'double the difference' voucher guarantee offered by Qantas off-shoot Jetstar, arguing that it was too selective.
"Australians have been paying some of the highest fares and that's because of the duopoly," the Tiger chief said.
Tiger's aim was simple - to be the 'RyanAir of Asia' offering cheap no frills airfares to stimulate demand.
"Some of the things we've done with our business, we've learned from fast food," he said.
"These are the industries we take our inspiration from.
"Stack it high, sell it cheap."
Tiger was not tempted to offer long haul services, a central plank of rival Jetstar's strategic expansion.
Instead, Mr Davis said Tiger would continue with a simple one-fare structure and offer ancillary products.
The Tiger chief boasted that Tiger had so far spent less than $50,000 on advertising in Australia.
"We've been in the press every day. For that, we thank our competitors," he said.
Mr Davis confirmed Tiger was still looking for a second and third base in Australia, but declined to nominate locations.
Tiger begin flying in Australia from November.

It also means they may kill you ;) if you fly with them too often :D :D

I don't really understand this. It sounds like they are saying that there is one flat fare per flight, yet from the information others on this forum have posted, they are using the same model as every other airline, i.e. a variety of fares with limited seating for each fare. Which is it?

Welcome to Tiger Airways. May I take your order please?

Two tickets to Melbourne, Please.

Would you like fries with that?

I think you'll find that the Tiger spin really means that at any point in time they will only be selling one fare on their flight. However over time that one fare changes (increases). There won't different fares - "Promo Fare", "Flexi Saver", "Fully Flexible" & "Corporate Plus" fares (or for that matter "Jet Saver" & "Jet Flex") - all available for purchase on the same flight.

2 weeks ago on Ryannair the absolute corker was that they come through the plane selling Ryannair scratchies. Now that is class.

 i've bought many of those..........[runs and hides]

Terrible.

Tiger should be doing several things now
1) Telling what dirty tricks are being used to limit their Syd-Mel routes - so they can pre-announce which slots will have the discount tickets.
2) Post a draft proposed airport/tax/surcharge table, NOW
3) Posting smallish signs on airport bus'es and the late night ones, with a slogan like If your not flying Tiger, your probably paying too much
4) Harvesting email addresses (they are), tick.
5) Set up a pricing system, so that you punch in the details/number of your last greyhound bus ticket or QF Flight, to get a offer that will incentivise you to buy your return ticket with Tiger.
6) set up a stand with some airline seats so people know the width/pitch
7) Train staff, not to piss off or squeeze businessmen with the right luggage tags - not initially.
8) Suggest price ranges, but keep changing them as the model changes.
9) Test the waters by putting some tickets up on Ebay

No matter what, the others wil match or undercut

Overall, be more informative

And they should also show us what their new paint scheme will look like.

There are a few possible suggestions here.. :)

But it would be very funny! :D

Although I'm not expecting them to have that much of a sense of humour. :-|
