The Master SQ Guide (Krisflyer, Waitlists & Waitlists Clearing)

Yeah do wonder if this is a training issue post covid or a new technical issue that has occurred. I used to book AU>SIN>EU and EU>SIN>AU with no issues at all. Mixed with Turkish Airlines, Brussels Airlines and SQ. Back then I was always able to get saver bookings with SQ no mater what time of the year.

The last booking I tried to make with the first leg being LH I was told it was due to the mix of * and the rest being advantage so I couldn’t test to see if this is a new issue or just that I had the advantage part.

It was always a simple case of I had the flights I wanted, I would call and feed the agent the flights one by one and make the booking.

I do hope this is some temporary glitch as not being able to mix the awards makes SQ very limiting for my future itineraries.

If it is a temporary glitch it has been around for a year and a half - and is applied pretty consistently by multiple agents.

Does anyone know how to redeem for Singapore Airlines A380 suites class? I really want to get a 2 pax redemption in 1A+2A or 1F+2F. Just finished saving up a tidy pot of points hoping to try it out. There used to be saver award availability from Singapore to Hong Kong, but I can't find anything anywhere anymore.

while I can't answer your question directly, I hope your experience and this year in general is not indicative of SQ going forward, as there was quite a lot of points expiring in the last 3 months, those points that were held pre-covid with expiry extended multiple times over the last couple of years.

I had a disappointing one today.

I have a MEL-SIN Saver First booking waitlisted that cleared.

I wanted to add a SIN-SGN Saver Business flight connection to the waitlisted flight but the saver flight that is available can only be used for new bookings not existing ones.

Does anyone know anyway around this or that’s just life?

That would be a mixed class anyway which is not allowed as far as I know.

How about a saver Y award 25% off at the moment?

Well I couldn’t work around this, so what do we think is better:

MEL - SIN - SGN all in J (already ticketed)
MEL (F) - SIN (Y) - SGN…..

The J booking is an Advantage award so both options will be the same miles give or take. Is F for the MEL-SIN leg that much better that its worth going down to Y for the SIN-SGN leg?

For identical points I would do the F/Y combo - you would get access to TPR in SIN which is nice and the catering in the F cabin is slightly better than J. The SIN-SGN flight is two hours and you can easily survive that in Y.

Sadly, I was even denied a Y saver connecting flight being added to my Saver F saying it was only for new bookings. I guess I’ve just become too greedy!

But I agree, so I confirmed the F ticket and have a separate $200 Y booking to SGN to connect.

How far out did you book the F waitlist, and when did it clear in relation to the flight departure?

Not sure what the answer to your question would be, but HUACA would be the first suggestion.

@muppet - how many pts was the redemption if I can ask?

Waitlisted in July for December booking and it cleared in October. Unfortunately HUCA failed and then the J Saver disappeared rendering that option useless unfortunately.

Thanks, good to hear the waitlist can clear in a somewhat reasonable time.

I think I've looked through all 13 pages of this thread, so apologise if it's been asked before.
I want to do MEL- LHR return in March in Y on points. I was able to get a seat for the first three legs, but the last SIN - MEL only has a waitlist redemption.

If I was to take the waitlist chance and it failed, would that impact on the rest of the booking? It seems that the redemption is 58,500 points for both legs - would they split that or is it just lost?
