Well after a long year in and out of airports I have finally hit the 1400 credit mark as of last night. My cut off is August 31 so I think I planned it well, I'll only be wasting about 100 credits before I reset. I thought I would give a break down of how I got there for anyone interested that is aiming for platinum doing minimal credit flights on economy flights only. Hopefully I get atleast 1 op-up over the next year as I'll be doing the same amount of flights again. I didnt get a look in over the last 12 months.

Domestic flights:

20 credit flights- 44 with 1 more booked before cut off
10 credit flights- 43 with 3 more booked before cut off
DSC earned- 20

Total domestic flights Sep 1/13-Aug 31/14: 91

1 international flight for 90 credits

Total flights for FF year: 93

Good luck to those are trying the same method,

cheers, Dmitri

Well done. Definitely the hard way.
Hope you can get on some international flights out of SYD to experience the F Lounge.

Yeh mate that's the plan for sure, hopefully Europe in the next 12 months

Well done.

I'd love some of those 20 SC flights and not have to pay for them. ;)

Well done!
Enjoy the benefits and good luck with upgrades :)

Congratulations, dmitri - and thanks for providing the stats.

Are you generally flying a specific route - with a mix of fare classes providing the 10/20SC gains - or a mix of routes?

Have you noticed much of a difference in SC earn since July 1?

I'm very interested since my high-level calcs have me requalifying in the same sort of timeline this coming year (I also end Aug-31), slightly shorter since we're looking at 1200SC not 1400SC. This year my 1200SC was done by the end of Jan, but that was largely due to a couple of DSC offers which started around this time last year (just before the re-set). Again, all domestic.

Just a word of warning ... all those 10SCs, expect a flood of posts now decrying your bleeding of QF by purchasing the cheapest seats and taking all the benefits [flame-proof]\On.

Regards,

BD

Hi BD, I'm lucky that work pays for all the 20SC flights and I cover the 10SC red e-deals. I do 7/7 roster for my job. I live in Sydney and have to make my way to Brisbane (red e-deals $89 pre booked close to 12 months in advance) where I fly out to work in central queensland (20SC flights) The July 1 fare changes haven't affected me, the points have changed for each flight but it works out the same. SYD-BNE has dropped from 1000 to 800 but my work flights went from 1200 to 1400, evens out luckily.

looking at your flights you totally deserve platinum! hope you get to experience some of the benefits to make up for all the time away from home!

Congratulations. I made WP for the first time in my last membership year, ending Jul 2014. Mine was a mixture of fair number whY work flights both domestic and international (although not as many as you), domestic JASAs and J leisure trip to Japan.

I have my first Flounge visit planned for this November and scheduled 3 hours between arriving in SYD and departing again so Mrs_O can hopefully snag a massage whilst I get into the breakfast and Taittinger :).

Sadly, I don't anticipate retaining it this year unless my work flying suddenly ramps up.

Its definitely a nice perk John, as long as you like being away from home 6 months a year

Actually I think I am away from home more than you.

I am on 5/2 self inflicted roster and pay for my own flights. I'd love to only work 6 months/year.

I wish you all the best in op-up for the current year.

I reach platinum through similar methods - i.e. all domestic economy flights. Only upgrade in 5 yrs I have got was on 1 international PVG-MEL in April this year.

Fingers are crossed every time at the gate though

Congratulations on making WP dmitri .

You're certainly a hard core Domestic Flyer!

No doubt making WP has wet your appetite for a bit more International Action!
