the madness of ebay

I'd be more worried about who buys it. It is of NO value at all, other than a DYKWIA effect! It won't get you into the CL, and sitting in the QP with that on your brief-case isn't a good look.

Where do you get it?

Seller has hocked a wide variety of Q tags in the past.
$500 for a CL Q Tag, yeh right.

I imagine anyone silly enough to buy these is probably silly enough to try and use them also - "oops your bags got routed to perth, sir! it seems you had someone elses q tag on your bag..."

Correct me if I am wrong, but the tags don't hold any information on them until they are checked in and assigned the booking reference.

We've sold our family ones as people move up and down the ranks.
Better to use the money for nice dinners as we travel vs Q tags that seem to be next to useless. And for nice coin earned, I can easily enough print off swing tags.

Totally correct. Therefore these tags from eBay are only for people who want to be known by a term that rhymes with banker. ;) (Or a collector who will not use them in public.)

Could these be the new bitcoins? And those QF marketing exec's will be kicking themselves they missed another money spinning opportunity! (wait there is more! we throw in a free set of J pj's)

But i think their value should increase with where they have been in the world, not just stuck in a draw (although discounted for NZ travel)!!!!!

Madness alright.

Further down I notice 100,000 Velocity points for AUD1,800. Yeah right.

I had a bit of a laugh at the Cathay Pacific safety card being for sale further down for $20.

That reminds me of the person who was auctioning their collection of sick bags, one by one. That gave me a good laugh too.

I'll trade you my collection of 'borrowed' life jackets (sorry bad taste joke ... ). I usually check to see if mine IS where it's supposed to be as I know people steal them.

Maybe we start a "trading platform" for points, could be a lot of fun!

Makes me wonder if this is someone in baggage? I note in the ad, the seller wont allow pickup. I wonder if QF should investigate whether this have been stolen?

I read somewhere the other day that there are more members in CL then WP.

One man's "junk" is another man's treasure.

And if he is able to sell it for $500 for a tag that he doesn't need, good on him. That's almost enough for a tasting menu at Fat Duck Melbourne.

Not sure why all the 'wanker' accusations. While it is a possibility that a potential buyer is that, it is worth noting there are people who collect pretty much anything, and I imagine aviation memorabilia would be very popular.
